I don't get it either. It's not like he had cancer or anything...

I actually did. But I have girls and my biggest fear is not being able to walk them down the aisle. The pic where she's crying got to me.

In some cases it's called relating. Three of us boys in the family, 19, 18 and 10. Our mom died and the last thing she said was that she didn't regret dying, but she did regret not getting to see her sons marry. So, I can understand someone else when they say they tear up at someone else's tragedy.

Maybe because they are human beings with human emotions.

I know right? He didn't have his children while he was younger like he was supposed to, right? Why should this be a sad situation? He had it coming to him.

I dont have kids, and I dont ever want kids, and this got to me too. its the moment she realizes she will go through the majority of her life without a father.

this thought is, frankly, terrifying for an 11 year old

Pretty easily actually. I just imagine myself in his situation.

Considering I have a 6 year old daughter, and have watched countless people my age and younger subside to cancer (b/c of my career), it's not even that difficult to imagine.

El Josey Wales was a young poster on this board that died recently from cancer, and had kids. Did you read any of his post or the thread for him? Did you understand why some posters might get emotional in there?

What's the difference? Just this guys age? Why would that matter?

They couldn't just go take some nice family pictures? I understand the father wanting to walk her down the isle but isn't this a bit heavy for an 11 year old?

Sad situation.

Stupid story.

"Walking her down the aisle"? Just dumb, bad voodoo. Daughter probably won't ever get married now.

I often wonder if half the people who post here can actually feel human emotions.
