I know right? He didn't have his children while he was younger like he was supposed to, right? Why should this be a sad situation? He had it coming to him.
It has nothing to do with his age or even the details of the story. I don't understand why people get emotional when they read any story that's labeled as "sad", unless it reminds them of a depressing situation they went through themselves.

I hope the apathy some posters show towards people other than themselves is just internet posturing.

It's empathy. BTW...lack of empathy is a symptom of narcissistic personality disorder.

A kit is about to lose her father, and he did something special for her. It's human to feel for her. Most people have very human emotions.

Some, probably. I know some people who have absolutely no empathy though.

Good thinking. Let's show those heartless bastards by throwing generalizations at them.

In Turkey Creek Tiger's defense, he just said that he couldn't understand how people got emotional in response to posters stating that the article made them cry. He didn't say anything about not feeling sad or not feeling sorry for the daughter.

thank you. I never said the story wasn't sad and unfortunate. I just understand why so many posters get so upset and emotional except the ones who have gone thorough a similar situation

I have a lot of disorders, but narcissism isn't one of them.

I lost my dad at 21(he was 55). I don't look forward to having a wedding bc he won't be there to give me away, but him never being able to meet the guy I marry, kids I have, etc sucks even more.
This girl won't have him around for much (won't teach her to drive, see her graduate HS/college, etc)... It's a sweet gesture/memory she will be able to have

Now I understand completely why this story makes you emotional. It's very similar to your own.

Oh. I never said this story makes me emotional. I just understand why they would do it.
Had I known my dad was going to die when he did, and he offered something like this I would have preferred him write letters to me that I could read at those milestone moments. Having his words/thoughts that day means more than staging that day. IMO.
Another note: my wedding day is about me and the guy I marry. Not my dad and I. That's not the first thing I think about when I think of him not being around for things in my life.

Sadness is an emotion. I'm confused.

Same here. It amazes me how many de-synthesized little shits there are on here.

Because some people actually have fricking souls. Even though this didn't make me cry, this is still really really sad news and I feel really bad for that man and his family.
