Any day now. It's only been 250 years and it does seem to come up every session..

Since I work in aviation weather, I like meters, kilograms, feet, pascals, kilometers, knots, m/s and millibars. It’s all fascinating to convert units to another.

I've been riding various brands of motorcycles and have had several Japanese model cars over the years, so my toolbox is now loaded with both standard and metric tools of all types.

Hell, I even have some old Wentworth tools used on British bikes from the 60's and 70's. Crap like 19/32 and other off the wall sizes you hardly ever see.

There are two types of people in earth, those that use the metric system and those that have been to the moon.

There are two kind of countries in the world:

Countries that have put a man on the moon.

And countries that use the metric system

I lived in a country that used the metric system. It took a while to get used to it. It became easier in time and I liked it. I really wish we would've converted to it. The biggest challenge for me was driving distance. It was hard to wrap my head around the kilometers for distance.

True change is slow change.

Step 1. In 5 years Get food distributors to supply groceries in liters and grams.

Step 2. In 15 years , Update interstate distance markers and exit numbers to km.

Step 3. In 25 years sell gas in liters. Have planes fly at meter altitudes . Have bag weights in kilos. Have health care professionals measure a person's height and weight in cm and kilos.

Step 4. In 35 years . Begin to measure penis length in mm.

My teachers in the late 60's started preparing us for metric system. I hated it back then. They should've started then. We would be up to speed now.

I think people would love to see gas advertised at ¢.60. Even though that is per litre, people would buy into it.

When I was in Italy this summer, I remember seeing gas was €1.25. I thought that was cheap until I realized it was in litres

What calculation do you think you could reliably perform in your head faster? Converting miles to inches or converting km to cm?

I'm not a proponent of us moving to the metric system btw but it's pretty easy to see why it would be more convenient mathematically.

12.7 centimeters sounds more impressive than 5 inches.

The elite thinkers have already converted to metric. Only blue collar baws still use imperial.

I would say that it is miles before we get there.

I'm impressed that you know some elite thinkers. They suck for giving in and converting to other country standards.

When you grow up and become a big boy, I hope you won't be making fun of hard working blue collar "baws"
