Feels like some people are confusing "science" with marketing. Coca-Cola and PhillipMorris said these things...

Wow I really hope your health continues to improve.

ETA I got curious and found your posts… good God I’m glad you’re alive man.

He posted it so I doubt he minds me sharing: 16-24 beers or a 5th of whiskey a day.

I start worrying if I do that in a week.

Hey thanks, I'm glad you're alive too. And me of course. And yeah I don't care if you post that, I literally posted one of my medical documents with only me and my doctors name covored.

Actually Tobacco companies retained the services of many ivy league scientists and tried to suppress any studies that showed it cause cancer etc. I think Dr oschner talks about that in his book. The only reason he keep on as that he was trying to get his wife to quit smoking. Asbestos companies did the exact same shite, i used to know that mfers name.

I went through similar circumstances. I didn't drink much but ate like shite (fast food daily etc.) for a long time. Frequently had a dull pain in my lower right abdomen and felt like shite, malaise I guess. Had an ultrasound done and was told I had a fatty liver. At the advice of several of the doctors on that "quack" list I went on a homecooked clean keto diet of beef/pork/salmon/chicken/eggs, lost 45 lbs in about 3-6 months, never had issues with abdominal pain ever again. And I thought the weight was incredibly easy to lose. I'm not saying that proves anything more than clean eating and weight loss are beneficial (duh) but I've never felt better and my health has been great eating a predominantly low-carb diet with occasional carb meal allowances, never any sugary desserts allowed, there's plenty of alternative options. Maybe it's not the only solution but keto definitely worked for my non-alcoholic fatty liver situation.

I have had two liver biopsy, as freaked out too doctors but my liver is perfectly fine. I also have enough iron in my blood to qualify for Hemochromatosis, it’s like 350-500 but stable. Just freaky

Also a large part of the health problems people have in this country.

Most of our weight related diseases and illnesses could be eliminated in a generation if everyone followed the Mediterranean Diet.

I've just lost most of the desire for that level of sugar. Last I had a slice of apple pie on Thanksgiving but it was honestly so sweet it wasn't as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I skipped on my favorite Christmas oreo pie from my mom the past two years, I just didn't care anymore because I've gotten over the sugar. Since I've hit my target weight and I now allow myself carb days periodically, I might have some fruit or some honey which is a nice treat. A spoonful of honey lights my brain up.

I allow myself stuff sweetened with stevia, monk fruit, and some forms of sugar alcohols. Between Rebel brand keto ice cream and my wife's monkfruit-based creme brulee recipe, it's no loss to throw out the regular sugar desserts for me. I recently tried that Magic Spoon keto cereal, tastes just like real Fruit Loops, so I sometimes have a bowl of that as a treat too. But I try not to go overboard with that since it's still fake food

Frying in butter is tough due to the low smoke point.

Maybe use ghee(clarified butter)? It has a smoke point of 482 degrees.

Do you eat a bunch of fruit or drink fruit juices/ sweet drinks?

Fructose is just like alcohol in many respects in regards to the liver. Glucose can be used by every cell in the body but only your liver can process fructose. Eating /drinking lots of sugary foods can hammer the liver. Fructose is also in normal table sugar/sucrose. Sucrose is 1 molecule of glucose + 1 molecule of Fructose.

The "healthy" smoothies gym rats drink can be sugar bombs.

Never believe the journalism version of the study. Always read the actual study, if you can find it.
Things to look for:
Were there more than 100 people in the study?
Did it run for more than six months?
If it talks about the relative risk of someone catching a certain disease from a behavior, what is the absolute risk? If next to no one ever catches, for example, foot cancer, and eating refried beans gives you a 20% increased chance of catching foot cancer, you still have almost no chance of catching foot cancer because the absolute risk is almost zero.
Really most of the "this is good for you and this is bad for you" are all about pretty small degrees of relative risk with the one exception being cigarettes. Smoking is incredibly bad for you and raises your risk of getting lung cancer 700% to 1400% depending on how much you smoke, as well as all the blood pressure, emphysema, stroke and heart attack risks. Most of the rest is just not eating too much of anything and getting some exercise every day.

Grandma was a fricking genius with her bacon drippings cup.

And just think of how good McDonald's fries were when they were fried in beef tallow. They were forced to change to be "healthier". What a joke.

(adkins was right) Smoking was good for you, Asbestos was safe product black lung was bull shite etc etc etc The punishment for all these obvious laws to the science experts by their peers, government etc has been ….. Not a fricking thing. Sorry people but if they aren’t from Europe, they are probably full of shite. Penalties for being lying mfer there are serious jail time

I would love to know why you got downvotes. What you’re saying is pretty much irrefutably true.

Ahh I see the problem. You think sugar is only in obvious things like cokes and desserts. When in fact the food pyramid and recommended way of eating is full of sugar. Guess what happens when you make a food low fat? More sugar. Guess what happens when simple carbs are broken down? Sugar. And you know better about the tobacco thing.. government was definitely involved via lobbying.

You nailed it. No one was claiming little Debbie brownies were healthy and sugar per se was not considered healthy. But the abortion that was nutritional science in the 80s and 90s was pushing cereals and orange juice as part of a healthy complete breakfast. I’m not one of those “all carbs are evil” people, but the nutritional pyramid was emphasizing simple carbs like Frosted Flakes and not Quinoa as the staple of a healthy diet. As you said, all of those heavily refined, nutritionally devoid breads and processed flours, not to mention fructose laden juices, were the foundation of the nutritional pyramid. And they all are converted to blood sugar at the end of the day. The whole thing was bought and paid for by the corn and sugar lobbies.

Everyone seems to understand you shouldn't guzzle regular sodas. But, it's pretty disturbing when you look at how much things like bread, ketchup, BBQ sauce, and even what you think are non-sugared cereals have HFCS.

I think it's a combination of problems. Not just food, but lifestyle issues with modern life. The stop and go nature of modern living is not good for our bodies. Too much time spent sitting, using devices, watching screens, creates problems with metabolism.
