Another miss that could've been a homerun.

Just a very obvious observation.

Ray Charles can see that.

Dang it, I should've put "easily" in front of that.

If Collins don't play with the Cowboys for 10 years, I'll send you a bottle of your favorite hooch.

Honey Badger was a lock and they passed on him. I can understand thier concern but he was affordable.
If he stays out of trouble he will have a hof career.

Yeah well, they did. No one is denying that.

That was an official deal. The Collins thing (which didn't exist anyway) was never put on paper or email.

So you're saying it was OK to sign him as UDFA, but not actually draft him?

Don't yall ever get tire of making excuses for Loomis/Payton?

It is documented fact that Collins' agents told EVERY TEAM (including the Cowboys) after the first round was over that if they took him, they wouldn't sign and he would petition to go back into next year's draft. They didn't want him to be drafted because if he signed as an UDFA, he would get late 1st/early 2nd round money--which is exactly what happened.

It's laughable that some of you think that Loomis and Payton automatically take players off the board because they went to LSU.

It's more just that they consider other players to have "higher potential" .. The error is in the evaluation process. It's just unfortunate for us that support our state that we don't get to see some of our hometown guys play locally. As long as Bama fan Sean Payton is around, my kids will never know a Hokie Gajan or Bobby Hebert.

This. I'm not of the opinion that it is some massive conspiracy, I just think Payton doesn't hold a high opinion of the players LSU puts out. He has made some questionable passes in the past, but I do not believe for a second that he will pass on a sure fire player at a position of need. In 2014 if OBJ would have slid to 18 I have to believe Payton would have been going nuts trying to get him.

There are some misses on that list, especially considering the horendous drafts that Payton has overseen, but I suspect he will take an LSU player when the value is staring him in the face.

Lsu also has as many big busts as big players. They have as much upside as any other big school. You guys just keep focusing onem numbers instead of fit as well.

I actually don't think that.

I do think Collins was an obvious miss given his locality to the Saints.

Well, which is it? A NFL conspiracy or a agent threat?

How about he signed with the Cowboys b/c they gave him $1.7M guaranteed over 3 years? They also rolled out the red carpet.

I think maybe that's the answer.

Yet straight words from HIS own mouth on why he didn't want to be here isn't enough for some of you.

Pretty sure he said he didn't want to play in Louisiana as he was trying to stay out of trouble. I dont think yall realize how many bad influences cling on to stars in their hometown trying to get a buck from them.

Hindsight is 20/20. Dude was a major question mark coming out. And NOLA would have been the absolute worst place he could be.

My thinking on Collins, is that if I'm the Saints, I'm thinking this is a guy we could maybe get for a bargain.

He's local, so we can see if there's actually any truth to the rumors, we can get in a car and drive 55 minutes and talk to him or his coaches, friends, etc.

In other words, the Saints were in a unique position to allay any fears they had about drafting him or signing him, relative to the other teams.

I don't believe the NFL told anyone not to draft him. That is foolish talk. I do think teams were extra-cautious given the then-recent domestic violence controversies.

That's only completely opposite of what he actually says in this article.

Did he say he wouldn't play for the Saints later on?

This is reason #1. It came from his own agent. He got what HE asked for.

Hold HIM accountable.

He then chose where HE wanted to go.

OK, so the NFL conspiracy theory has be debunked.

So where did he say he didn't want to go to the Saints?
