I like the second one, but to be more accurate it should be "This reply is too long too read so just ignore it."

I'm curious to see what Spikes is gonna get. He would be an incredible upgrade at ILB.

Obviously I want Thurmond, but he's gonna be expensive.

I'll be curious to see what Vontae Davis gets. I think he could be a solid upgrade and not break the bank.

I think realistically we get one somewhat big name in FA.

I think Sanders could be a really really nice get for a reasonable price. He is a younger Meacham with fresher legs. He runs those deep intermediate to deep routes pretty well. We could then draft a big bodied physical guy (wouldn't need to be first rd). Would then have colston and the rookie as bigger bodied guys, Stiles, Sanders, and Morgan to get up the field, and graham stretching the middle. Nice mix of youth and experience with only colston and graham being highly paid.

Blueslover,

Does that ranking system factor in things like a player's age and contract situation or is it a pure ranking of the player's ability?

Some of those ratings are a little strange to say the least.

Give me Alteraun Verner to man opposite of Lewis. That takes care of CBs, pass on the available safeties. Id rather take a young explosive safety in the draft(Deone Buchannon or Don Bailey) and resign R. Bush. I think DLP did decent this yr (surely could've done better but also could've done worse) so resign if at right price. The only WR I would consider is James Jones but I would still take WR in 1st or 2nd rd depending on defensive Free Agency signings. Just my thoughts

I love FA. I love it more than the draft, even though I love the draft.

Even so, I just can't seem to wrap my head around the FA period this soon, although I will come to this thread later.

He's going to make $8m+ a year. We won't be able to afford him without letting Graham go.

Yea I think Verner is going to get overpaid. How much do you think Talib and Spikes will make?

I know it will never happen, but I would LOVE for us to trade Graham, sign Talib and Spikes, then draft C/OT, WR, and S in the draft,

I'd guess Talib will make in that $7-8m/yr range, but on a shorter term deal than Verner. Talib is a better player (he was on some MVP lists after the Saints game) but is older and has the off field issues.

Spikes is coming off the IR and doesn't play passing downs, so he won't be pricey.

Verner and Davis are top-10, maybe top-5 cornerbacks in the NFL today. No way we get either of them.

All we need at corner is a steady No. 2 guy, not a top corner. We've seen how teams with too many No. 1 corners end up. Philly was terrible with Rodgers-Cromartie, Asomugha, and Samuel. The Jets weren't special with Cromartie and Revis. It's not worth it to throw so much money at those spots because sometimes guys are just going to get beat.

Sign Corey Graham or Captain Munnerlyn to reasonable deals, and draft a corner. That position will then be set with Lewis, White, and Robinson all coming back. Rod Sweeting and Trevin Wade will both have shots to make the roster. If Greer comes back healthy, then that's great. No need to invest too heavily.

Also, I don't get the desire to sign Brandon Spikes. He was put on IR for missing multiple meetings, showing character concerns he's had since college. He's a two-down player. And he's less of an athlete than Hawthorne or Lofton. The guy ran a 5.0 40 at the combine, twice. Not a gifted athlete.

I'm also not buying Emmanuel Sanders or Julian Edelman as upgrades to this team. Sanders isn't a deep threat, and he just came off of the worst season of his career despite getting more snaps and opportunities. He's an average slot guy.

Edelman is a solid player, but I don't think he leaves New England. He's too valuable to Tom Brady and that offense, especially considering the injury history around Danny Amendola and Gronkowski. And again, he's just a slot guy, not the homerun hitter/total physical package we've been clamoring for on this board.

Not meaning to take a dump on everyone, but I'm just trying to bring us back to Earth.

While I'm at it, I'd also be okay paying Nick Folk up to $2 million a year to make the ball fly through between the goal posts without having to cross my fingers and pray every time.
