re: What is the most disappointed you've been by a show/movie?

The Hobbit as a trilogy.
My favorite book as a kid. I remember when "rumors" started spreading about a potential movie shortly after ROTK. When I saw the first trailer and that it was actually going to happen I was so excited. Especially to see the actual Battle of Five Armies come to life (especially as exciting as Helm's Deep was).
I know all movies get away from the books, but each movie seemed to divert further and further away. I actually enjoyed the first one, and the first 40 minutes in Bilbo's house. Was pretty close to the book. But it went down hill from there for me.
I watched them all, just couldn't help it, but the last movies was terrible. And the battle itself was horribly done.

Lost was just so fricking sloppy. No writer could have saved that show after Season 4. "It's about the characters" is the worst explanation ever. A show can be about characters and not have 30 dead end subplots.
Can you elaborate on these "30 dead end subplots"? List them please. I thought it was a beautifully written show; including the ending. I just do not get how almost everyone in this thread hates Lost. Do you guys just not understand what was happening at the end?

It's a locked thread, but I have a strong feeling I said it all there.

My greatest movie disappointment goes to "Prometheus."
The Seinfeld finale gets a pass from me because the handful of episodes leading up to it were some of the best episodes of comedic TV ever produced.

I'd have to go with Prometheus also. I think that was the most I had been excited for a movie in years. The trailer looked awesome, I was literally counting the minutes till I got off of work that Friday. Leaving the movie I had that empty feeling, I couldn't believe how underwhelming it was to me. I didn't hate it but I was expecting greatness and just got meh.

Ang Lee's Hulk.
That movie is completely unwatcheable.

Crystal Skull was crushingly terrible upon first viewing. I walked out of theater just thoroughly bummed at how lame it was. It had none of the soul and humanity of Raiders and Last Crusade. Hell, even goofy arse Temple of Doom at least had it's moments.
However, I think Star Wars Episode II was the most disappointed I've ever felt during and following a movie.
Huge Star Wars fan so I was pumped for Episode I. Saw it a few times and though I was not totally happy with the final product, I was so happy to have anything Star Wars happening that I gave it a pass.
As my feelings for Episode I got clearer, I realized that having Anakin as a child and Jake Lloyds stiff performance as well as the overly political nature of the plot was what I disliked the most.
Episode II was going to have an older Anakin, possibly more action, maybe more dark side exposition and hopefully, a much better movie.
Man, Hayden Christiansen is sooooo bad. Natalie Portman is sooooo bad! The action is so stiff and way too much green screen. As I was watching, I felt my expectations deflate and the "romantic" dialogue was embarrassing to hear.
I walked out the theater knowing I'd never see that movie again and I still haven't.
Episode III is what Episode I really should have been. It would have been a lot more enjoyable/

SW Episode 1
Easily the most disappointed...
I was a huge Lost fan, so Every week we would scour the Web looking for every little bit of info/theory we could find.

Another good one - the Cartoon Menace - and it being so bad softened expectations and kept Send in the Clones from being as big a disappointment (although, perhaps, a worse film, but we're talking about which turd smells worse at this point.)

The ending to Matrix: Revolutions...... end of thread for me.

Lucas probably needs to be put to death just for typing Episode 2's screenplay, but 1's badness softened the blow for every shitty movie that will ever be made. Hollywood is forever indebted to him for that.

On the other hand, it has been tough to get me into see a hyped film since then.
I limit myself to about 3 new films at the cinema - per year - if that.
In all honesty, the next film I see in theaters will likely be Finding Dory (and the most recent is Inside Out).

Not the most disappointing ever, but I was really let down by Skyfall. I expected so much more from a Sam Mendes-directed Bond movie.

Nobody understood what was happening, don't be absurd.
