Have not read 5 pages but mine is the Hobbit Trilogy. While they are not horrible they all pale in comparison to the LOTR Trilogy. Thing is I always felt the Hobbit would make a better movie. The absolutely unbelievable action sequences like the Barrels or the Goblin Caves let alone the Pig Riding Dain and the fricking Mountain Goats. These should have been awesome instead we get a Dwarf/Elf love story, fricking pathetic.

I know a movie you all have not seen, because it makes your suggestions all look like award winners..
Tron: Legacy

I saw a movie just the other evening, about a couple that move into what looks to be an upstate New York home, after the death of their son, Paul.
It´s set in the 70´s, is a horror movie, and had a quasi famous actor as the lead in a supporting role (if that makes sense).
We pulled it, because it had an 88% rotten maters rating. Lo and behold, it was fricking (not regular) garbage.
So bad, we watched it all, because we a) paid, and b) schlockiness must be attended to, for bad or good. Good laughs may be forthcoming.
I´ve googled many times, and cannot find it.

Brokeback Mountain would also disagree. Ang Lee is a fine director.

There are a lot of legit answers in this thread (spiderman 3, crystal skull...) but the question is a personal one and for me personally the answer was the Godfather 2.
I had seen the Godfather recently and was more excited to see the sequel than any other movie I'd ever rented. There are elements of the film that are very well done, even masterfully done, but I hated it so much. I hated the way they filmed it. I hated that they cheapened it to introduce cartoonish morality, dialogue, and consequences to satisfy those who were outraged by the first. I hated that it was largely derivative with no central story that stood alone (a great film should stand completely alone and not suffer for it) and I hated the loss of the brilliant LIGHT that goes with shadow that so characterized the first film.
Obviously this is JMO. But if you were more disappointed by stuff of the ilk of spidey 3 or indy crystal skull you maybe could reconsider how good those movies were ever going to be even if they executed. The gap between that outcome compared to that of a movie that seeks to be great (failing) just isn't as large to me.

The Dukes of Hazzard.
I went in expecting pure awesomeness from my childhood. Instead i got a steaming turd. Terrible acting, terrible casting. Just terrible.

How I Met Your Mother (frick you, Robin)
Ender's Game
Ender's Game has the potential to be so great in film, but that rushed mess they put out was a disaster.

Anchorman 2. Had such high hopes.
Posted on 6/26/15 at 7:41 am to rebeloke
Movies: Has to be Star Wars Episode 1 or 2
Other hopefuls: Prometheus, Dark Knight Rises, Indiana Jones/Crystal Skull
TV: Possibly Lost or Heroes after Season 1. Also Game of Thrones from all of the hype (I am going to rewatch this though, so there's that)

The gap of where Spidey 3 actually was to where it could have been is as large as I can imagine. It was the highest grossing film at the time (I believe) for a reason and I think it is pretty universal how much it paled in comparison to what a highest grossing film should be.

That movie was awesome, far from a disappointment.

Without a doubt this. Went in with high expecatations after the firs two. Went with a buddy and we kept looking at each other like WTF?? during the whole movie. Sucked.

No reasonable person went to that movie thinking it would be in the category of the best movie they ever saw IMO.
Granted, it was an exceptionally bad piece of trash but it wasn't even promoted with the same approach as the cookie cutter classics like Titanic, Gladiator, or Shawshank
