Show is pretty decent so far, but him "putting his foot down" to sell pills at cost has no basis in reality. Where does he expect profits to come from, if not from the products they produce? No one is seriously that stupid.
I mean, he spent 15 years in a monastery in another world. I don't think he is supposed to understand capitalism.

Company makes money, or company shuts down. Doesn't take a grand understanding of capitalism.

I actually thought it would be a better way anyway. Shows the company cares and puts them in a good spot. No profit but huge publicity is worth eating profits.
It's not like they are donating them.

Finished tonight and really enjoyed it for the most part. The character's motivations and evolutions were well done, especially Ward. He was fantastic. Claire got on my nerves quite a bit. Gao is so fun. I love watching her manipulate. The way she's able to spin truth and honesty into coming off as venomous is wonderful. The scenes where she's talking are some of the most compelling of the show. She talks. You listen.

Well I certainly agree with this, but he didn't know enough, at the time, about the company to make this call.

I agree that it shouldn't have been my way out the highway but the idea should have been more welcome by the board.

Just finished. It finishes much stronger than it started. Danny does come off as weak at times but he's still conflicted. He wants to be both Danny and the Iron Fist but can't be both, typical of heroes with dual identities. I love the Meachems. Colleen is great too.
Gao is a fantastic character and I'm glad she was featured more. I always enjoyed her in Daredevil. I knew she was powerful in ways we hadn't seen, even Fisk always respected and somewhat feared her on DD.

except it ended up being extremely good promotion for the company. Also as the guy below you said: they aren't selling the pill for a loss - they are selling it at cost. I've worked a lot in the non-profit sector, some of them in a production field of non-profit. Selling at cost is perfectly normal, and means you end up with a net-event, which can actually be very good as long as you keep it up, you can pay everyone involved.
In the case of Rand though - they actually turned a fairly big profit when their stock prices jumped, consumer confidence came back (more than likely selling more products), etc.
as for his "reasoning" behind going at cost... dude has been at a abusive Buddhist monetarist for 15 years - there is 0 chance he knows how business works anymore, he's like a 5 year old again

Danny Rand is basically Daniel LaRusso. Whiny, lacks skill, not Asian, beats every opponent that is more talented and when all hope is lost, has a special move to end the fight.

I think Danny left too soon without completely mastering the skills expected to be the iron fist. Bakuto seemed so surprised at his lack of knowledge of his own abilities.
Anyone think Colleen popped Danny's cherry? I'm assuming growing up in a monastery he never had contact with women, especially in that way.

Also, the guy in the video had two iron fists and held his powers for much longer.

That was obvious given his "reaction".

Generally I find it hard to work up much interest in the whine wars between the SJWs and the Anti-SJWs. But I figured some of you guys might get a kick out of this little tiff between Roy Thomas, the comic book writer who invented Iron Fist, and Jessica Henwick, the actress who plays Coleen Wing:

Dude, Oriental is not the preferred nomenclature

The show already struggled with how it depicted Danny’s treatment of other people. He mansplains kung-fu to Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), a skilled martial artist with her own dojo. And the issue only gets worse when it turns out the Hand, Danny’s primary foe, includes most of the show’s people of color.
When Iron Fist introduces Bakuto (Ramon Rodriguez), Colleen Wing’s sensei, he’s initially treated as an enlightened mentor figure. But soon, we learn he’s actually a Hand leader. And worse, it turns out that Colleen’s lower Manhattan dojo isn’t a sanctuary for at-risk youth, it’s a proving ground for Bakuto’s personal army of Hand fighters. The idea that underprivileged young men and women are being preyed upon by a cabal of evil non-white people is deeply uncomfortable, and it’s amazing the writers didn’t see this problem.
Where did this garbage come from?

yeah, I hate the whole PC culture... but even I know that you don't use Oriental when you talk about people from the far east. Oriental refers to the people from the Orient - and the dude really should know better

I am half joking, it's a Big Lebowski line, though in that scene it was Chinamen, not Oriental.
I just don't get why people get upset when cranky old white guys make un-PC comments. What did you expect them to think?

I just think it's funny that everyone is upset that the most unlikable character on the show isn't a minority.
Shouldn't they be pointing out that the rich white guy is a clueless idiot and would be screwed without the Asian and black female characters?
