I know the movie is a guilty pleasure, but I cringe at the Kurt Russell drowning scene in Poseidon: LINK

First thing I thought of, too. There's about 4-5 scenes in that movie that are just heartbreaking

Adam Goldberg annoys me, so it isn't that bad.

Church Burning Scene from the Patriot is easily the most heart wrenching scene i've ever seen of any movie

A lot of good ones on here.

There's a scene at the begining of the new movie "The Witch" that was incredibly disturbing for me. I won't spoil it, but if you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. It was the first time I've heard gasps like that in a theater. It was pretty awful. I would add that one to the list.

I've never seen A Serbian Film, but I've heard that nothing tops that.

Might not be a "scene" but the last 20 minutes of Requiem for a Dream.
