I've said the same thing about him and Mullen.
Now would be the perfect time for him to leave MSU. He's got a heavy senior class and hasn't done much before them. Get out while the gett'ns good.

Peterson and Briles are right at home in their little fiefdoms. Job security, paid handsomely, and none of the mega-university politics.

They should re-visit an old well and hire another winning coach from Duke University.

Hiring stoops would be dumb

Since the Gators won championships with offensive minded coaches they have to be thinking that way IMO. If so, Mullen would be the best hire. If not, Rich Rod, Todd Graham, a pro coach, & dare I say but Kiffin might even get considered. Although I think Kiffin is a long shot he could bring Orgeron with him as DC & top recruiter.

I think it will be Rich Rodriguez. They have had success hiring offensive minded coaches (Spurrier and Meyer) so I think they will go that route.

Kiffin wouldn't be bad if he had the right staff.

He has to actually be considered for an interview first.

Why would Bob leave Oklahoma? Dude has it made over there.

It's been a while since they've been on top. I'd think they're fan base is getting a little antsy.

OU loves Bob, he isn't leaving any time soon.

My guess it is going to out of left field, because the guys we think will not leave.

So I am going with Fedora.

You don't think Briles would go to UF?

Briles isn't leaving the state of Texas except for maybe the NFL but that is unlikely.

Plus he's almost 60. I'd be shocked if he doesn't retire at Baylor

Looks like Strong left Lville a year to early.

Do you think Strong would have been the UF coach? For some reason I do not. I think Foley would have passed on him.

With what Briles has done at Baylor I would make him say no first, if he turned down Texas my guess is he will turn down Florida as well.

Would not be shocked if next Fla coach comes from the NFL ranks somewhere. What about a Del Rio or Quinn at Seattle.

Quinn at Seattle

The only problem I have with Quinn is he's an NFL guy first. He bolted back into the NFL when Seattle wanted him as their DC.

I would imagine if he had some success at UF and an NFL team came calling, he'd be gone in a heartbeat.

If I go the NFL route I make Roman, Bevell, and McDaniels tell me no and then no again.

I think McDaniles would be a good college HC, but I do not think he wants to leave.

Schottenheimer played for Spurrier and his dad sent him there to have him learn to coach. I just remembered him.

My three offical guys and write in ink or stone:

Fedora
Schottenheimer
McDaniels

I could be way off but that is who I am thinking will get the job.

I think Mullen would at least have to consider it. His team this year is as good as he's going to have at MSU. Lots of senior leadership on that team. I see him cashing in big on this season.
I certainly think they give him a call. I am no so sure that he would take it.

I have heard that some bridges were burned when Dan thought he should have been the choice to replace Urban, and they went with Muschamp.

Also, if he goes to Florida he is going to be under huge expectations to do what Urban did there, compete for titles, etc. At MSU, if he can have this type of season every 5 - 7 years and have them winning 8-9 games every other season, he will have statues erected and buildings named in his honor in Starkville.

They should make a run at Todd Bowles.
