You do realize Arizona made 2 stupid hires right in a row?

Mac and Mikey

What Rich has done there is very damn impressive.

your statement does nothing to defend the opinion that Arizona is a roughly equivalent job to a top three job like Florida.

Rich is impressive - in part because his results there are great for a program with lowered expectations. At Florida or Southern Cal people would be waiting for him to take the next step upwards instead of hoping he doesn't leave for greener pastures.

Where the hell did I say Arizona was same level?

I just said they have infra structure etc

Arizona is a sleeping giant. People act like Florida was always great and NC contenders. Arizona is where Florida was with Hall and right now in better shape.

I guess if you're a CFB fan you forget Darnell, Zook, and Boom and just think UF was awesome

I guess we should forget the Miami slide and the FSU slide also.

Ran Rich out? Rich ran himself out. I'm sorry but he didn't belong there or fit in.
It's been pretty well documented what happened during his time there.

And besides that, what do you call 'administration'? Because that is vague.

I think you oversell how important history is...but then dismiss it with Oregon because of Nike money. Which would lead me to think that Florida's strong recruiting base should be counteracted by whatever importance Michigan stadium has to a coach.

Brian Callahan

For a wildcard I'll say Jimbo Fisher.... when he left LSU it was known that he eventually wanted back in the SEC.

What? Florida has 6 FBS schools in state Oregon has 2

Michigan is a name that gets them in the door.

I'm sorry are we talking state of program now or overall?

Because right now Florida is behind Arizona and Oregon

Overall Michigan laughs at Florida.

Aren't we talking right now since we're mentioning Oregon and Arizona?

I don't understand what a stadium has to do with a coaching search but that's your criteria. So Florida is a top 30 job in your opinion?

Florida is no worse than a Top 5 job in CFB, provided were discussing a place where you can win NCs and do it with and against the best of the best.

Michigan isn't in the same tier as Florida, and neither is Arizona.

That being said, people have their reasons for not wanting to take a new job all the time. The fact that Texas had to settle for Strong doesn't take away from its prestige as a program. The same will hold true for Florida. They won't get a big name IMO, but that job is still one of the top openings in CFB.

I don't even think Florida is top 5. Probably 10. And if Texas had a hard time hiring last year, UF will experience that 5x.

But I don't understand why we have to talk about Michigan's history compared to Florida and yet extol Arizona and Oregon's present. The constant in each discussion is how UF doesn't compare. I don't get it.

So? The State of Florida has so much 5-star talent it's gross. And, usually, UF has dibs.

Florida has won 3 National Titles since most of these kids were born. They have the name.

This is utterly ridiculous.

Are you not implying that it would be at least as good and maybe better for Rich Rod to stay at Arizona instead of go to Florida? If not then what's your point?

Am I being unfair? I admit that your ideas that: Michigan was at least as good of a job as Florida and ND is a top three football job may have me considering everything you say on the subject to be silly

You really think that Michigan is a worse job than Florida?

The history, resources, the admin, stadium, is every bit better than Florida.
You didn't say just stadium. But you included it in your criteria for what's a good job. I don't see the relevance of history or stadium in hiring a coach and I don't understand what parts of UM's admin is that much better.

If you want to argue which is a better college football program, sure. But for a job?

UF should target Rich Rod. Too much talent in the state of Florida for them not to have a top tier offense imo.

Michgan CAN bring in players from around the country with the right coach... I know the weather is a factor, But hey Michigan St, is in great shape right now... Michigan can do the same and even better with the right coach... Haurbaugh IS the guy for Michigan... PAY HIM the MONEY IF you want to get back where you once were..........

AriZona is not a sleeping giant because there aren't enough recruits in the state. And there's nothing overly appealing about Tempe to attract them. And they don't have much winning tradition. Maybe RR can create that given time.
