re: Opposite findings: Bullies have high self-esteem are not depressed - TejasHorn
My high school (Plano TX) was too big to really have bullies. The graduating classes were the largest in the country, until the football boosters finally relented to have a new school built. And yeah no more state titles after that. Anyway it was more like a small college with a mix of d...

re: Census: Home ownership rate falls to lowest level since 1967 - TejasHorn
I started a thread on the MT board about a debate on homeownership as a single person. The consensus was generally a wash financially unless you plan on paying out the whole mortgage. And that didn't account for the "being tied down" aspect. Lots more single folks these days who'd rather not de...

re: Should the U.S. invite Cuba and Puerto Rico an offering to become the 51st & 52nd States? - TejasHorn
Isn't PR usually split about 50/50 on joining? I doubt Cuba will be anywhere close to that today.. maybe in 100 years. There's about to be a behemoth tourism industry in Cuba... Opening relations back up is one of the biggest stories of our generation that's getting very little airplay....

re: Census: Home ownership rate falls to lowest level since 1967 - TejasHorn
Combination of economy, yes, but largely millenials not wanting to be tied to a house. + they're not handing out mortgages like candy as in 2007....

re: Whole Foods Buffet - TejasHorn
I've become an expert at the WF buffet, to keep the price reasonable. Rule #1, skip anything on the bone. I got a salmon crocquete, seasoned rice, and salad for $6.45 last week and it was a decent portion size. :pimp:...

re: If you had to eat fast food for a month straight which place would you pick? - TejasHorn
McDonalds has the most variety in terms of breakfast, salads, and burgers. It's certainly not the best but probably the best for you as weird as that sounds. I mean if I was just going beast mode then it'd be taco bueno....

re: Woman horribly killed by falling into escalator in China (video included) - TejasHorn
Obviously a different situation in the OP, but stuff like this probably happens more now that we're all staring into our phones while walking. Some lady in Dallas was run over and killed last week.. texting and crossing street downtown....

re: Rick Perry on Lafayette shootings: Guns should be allowed inside movie theaters - TejasHorn
Sadly, it seems many think that more guns are the solution. Do some of y'all really want everyone to be armed at all times? Have you stepped back and thought about how ridiculous that is? ...

re: Need Recommendations for Big Bend - TejasHorn
Yeah, stay in the chisos basin either in a tent or cabin. Tent camping is fine up there. It's a large campground with a big ranger station and restaurant. Take the family on a guided horseback ride to the "window." There are several easy day hikes and scenic drives, using Chisos basin as your HQ...

re: Batman (1989) - TejasHorn
Those first 2 are still my favorite Batman movies. Perfectly cast, funnier... but I've always been a huge Keaton fan. I've never liked Bale's Batman. Understand that is a minority opinion for sure....

re: Conservative climate change solutions - TejasHorn
The denier side of the debate is based on the very shaky ground of some dark global conspiracy to control our lives. About every scientific rebuttal to AGW (by someone other than the armchairs on this board), is quickly shot down in peer review... but of course, as mentioned, the peers are all...

re: The "Touch Screen Generation" Rant (w/ tl;dr) - TejasHorn
Each generation is growing more narcissistic. It's almost impossible not to be. And yes we are missing out on things, all of us regardless of age, by constantly having our face in a device. Of course every generation complains about the one behind it but this is a multi generational issue. I...
