The GB defense left Fitzgerald WIDE OPEN 15 yards down the field. I do not think GB has a valid complaint about how this game ended.

Play like college, but start with a kickoff from your own 10 yard line. If the receiving team scores, they kick from their own 10. If it's still tied, then each team gets the ball at the 50. Teams must go for two after a TD beginning with the 3rd OT. This way, each team gets the ball and special teams are a big part of OT.

The college rules are so much better I can't imagine a rational person could possibly disagree.

College: "Teams going last in the first overtime won 331 games or 54.98%."

NFL: "Our latest win probability model estimates the recipient of the opening kickoff in overtime will win about 53.8 percent of the time"

GB should've held them to a FG then? They only had to go 80 yards for the game to end like that.

College overtime is wonderful. The NFL is football at the highest level and they should have a better policy to settle a tie. Unbelievable that GB didn't see the ball.

They saw the ball...go right down the ffeild.

Should've never went to OT. Packers we didn't catch the Hail Mary

And GB should've gone for two in regulation

They had the victory 2 yards away. Why pass up that chance, you control your destiny - right now! You play to win the game! (Herm )

college rule.

Yeah screw that ridiculousness. It is one of the absolute worst ways to decide a game imo. I'll listen to the argument of allowing the teams to continue to get the ball in a normal kickoff manner until one gets stopped but for fricks sake at least make them drive down the field.

They should just play an entire quarter.

What should the OT rules be?

No, it's not. Asking for one fricking stop from your team's defense shouldn't be an unreasonable request.

This. It's the NFL. The teams had 4 quarters to win the game. Get it over with as quickly as possible.

Why do people still go to this? This is not a good argument.

Arizona had 4 quarters to win it. They had 4th and 20 from GB's own end zone to win it. They had the Hail Mary to win it. And they fricked up.

But then they won the coin toss, so they were rewarded.

I'm mad one of the greatest games ever ended without the best QB ever getting z chance in OT
Then he should learn to play defense.

I'm not sure. Lack of a solution doesn't indicate that there isn't a problem.

I know. Just seeing if you have any proposed solution to the problem.

These threads are always filled with complaining and very little solutions.

Fumble, interception, STOP them are just a few things Green Bays defense could have done. It's not coddling to offenses like it is in college. NFL demands a complete team.

The solution is for Green Bay to play any quality defense at all. Rodgers has plenty of opportunities in regulation to make some plays and didn't and then the defense got torn apart in OT. Arizona was obviously the better team.

So. Someone posted the stat that showed the NFL rule actually results in LESS bias towards who wins than the college rule and everyone is just gonna ignore it?

Gotta love sports boards.

Numbers are cold and don't tell the full story. Bottom line is its less satisfying of a finish if a teams offense doesn't get a chance to answer. Not many people here are advocating for the NFL to duplicate NCAA ot, anyway, so that's a straw man regardless.
