"They should've won in regulation" is also not an argument for the OT rules. The other team who didn't win in regulation is rewarded. They should've won in regulation, too.

insane that because of a coin flip, Rodgers doesn't get to play in OT

They didn't lose because of a coin flip.

They didn't lose because they lost the coin flip, but they were put in a pretty significant disadvantage because of it.

I love the college OT rules, though I would back the starting position to the 40 at least.

The college rules are so much better I can't imagine a rational person could possibly disagree.

Some of the defenses of the horrible NFL OT rules in thread have been great

Besides that you eliminate kickoffs, shorten the field, and force teams to go for 2?

If you remove those things, I could possibly agree.

College overtime is wonderful. The NFL is football at the highest level and they should have a better policy to settle a tie. Unbelievable that GB didn't see the ball.

Defense saw it alright. In the arms of Fitzgerald.

How about playing some D for once? This is the same board that makes fun of the Big 12 and Pac 12 for not playing any D and then complains about NFL teams not getting a possession in OT when they have the power to get the ball back by playing defense and stopping the other team.

Ok. Make it the 35 instead of the 25. 42 yard fg isn't too difficult for an NFL kicker, so at least make it 52 if they can't advance it.

Kickoffs hace been rendered almost irrelevant with the new rules anyway. Most are touchback a and the blocking rules make covering them pretty easy.

shorten the field

I wish it were a little longer, but if it's the same for both teams I don't see why it matters unless you just hate lots of scoring.

One of the best rules in sports, takes the tension to a whole different level.

This. If your team allows the other to drive 80 plus yards to score a TD with the game at stake, then they don't deserve to win the game

That's stupid logic because the other defense might be just as bad but were saved by a coin flip.

Any way you slice it, college lets them keep playing until one team scores AND makes a stop. The NFL allows it to be potentially decided by pure luck.

If a team returns the opening kickoff of OT for a TD they win, no matter how good their offense or defense or coaching are. That's bullshite.

The fact that CFB has to generate more tension in overtime (and to end the game eventually) shows its flawed

So because the opposing team's defense sucks, your defense should be excused for not doing their job. How about holding your team accountable for what they do instead of complaining about the rules?

I'm not excusing anyone, I'm refuting the false claim that it isn't decided by a coin flip because the defense let them score.

It absolutely is decided by a coin flip.
