Pujols was an Astro killer, but the HR, while spectacular, didn't mean much since the Astros won the next game to end the series.

That hit was in the 2005 playoffs, the Astros traded Lidge after the 2007 season. They became the Phillies farm club because McLane chased off all the good baseball people and hired Ed Wade from the Phillies.

and that entire 2 years stretch he struggled, after being a badass prior to it. I think it mentally just messed him up, and by the time we traded him he wasn't even serviceable. Then he tore it up for the Phils, so I'm pretty convinced it was mental.

Any match between the US and Ghana, essentially.

Lidge was not the same in Houston, probably was all mental, but then closers fall off all the time. I'm a big fan of the Billy Beane school of trading them when they have value, but that's a different discussion.

I guess uncle Drayton's ego didn't want Gerry to get too much credit. He fricked us but good.

I still don't understand how the Braves lost that series, up 2-0 going back to Atlanta.

Yep. My wish is for Ghana to have to suffer and be a third-world country. At least that came true.

Sacramento Kings Loss when Robert Horry hit that 3pt'r when the ball was tipped back to him. May have been a game 6.
49er's scoring a Vernon Davis TD on their last drive, after J. Graham broke free on the long TD to put the Saints up.
Barry Bonds not winning the MLB World Series title against the Angels in 2002, after being just 8 outs away.

saints vs 9ers...The fact that we were less than a min from hosting the team we dropped 50 on in the NFC title game to go to the Superbowl is still sickening. Thanks for EVERYTHING Greg.

Smarty Jones in the Belmont. That was a grueling 10 seconds watching a 36-1 longshot overtake him down the stretch.

State Championship baseball game my senior year. Lost on a walkoff to a team that ended my playoff season 3 out of 4 years in baseball.

My quote in the local paper on the loss: "I would rather not make the playoffs then come all this way and lose on a walkoff in the Finals"

The mindset of a 17-year old haha.

Braves took the series in game 6 with a 1-0 win. Solo homer from David justice and a gem tossed by glavine.

1993 Saints-Eagles playoff game. This was the first memory I have of true heartbreak in sports. Can still remember sitting at dinner afterwards with my parents and would not look up to eat.

As a Cleveland sports fan, we have too many to remember. Lets see:

1. "The Move"

2. "The Drive"

3. "The Fumble"

4. "The Shot"

5. "Jose Mesa"

6. "The Decsion"

....Sadly, i could go on all day!

For me, it's the compound effect of 01/09 and then having a Saints team that was cruising lose to an inferior Niners team a few days later.

To suffer through 01/09, feel good enough a few days later to think, "At least the Saints are on fire right now"...and then have that loss in SF happen the way it did.

Man, I love sports, but I tuned out to any and everything sports-related for weeks afterward.

Eli falling on his arse against LSU in 2003 while losing by 3 as our award winning kicker missed his only two field goals of the year.

Dammit...
