I will never forgive Scott Norwood for the wide right.

once upon a time, the Phillies had a 9 game lead with maybe 12 games to go.
they lost their starting shortstop to injury, lost their starting 2nd baseman to injury, lost their starting 1st baseman to injury, who was hitting .297 and was a very good fielder, and bought a big hitting old man from Pittsburgh, who hit a couple of HR's before he too was injured.
They lost the pennant to St Louis by 1 game.
They had two very good pitchers. They ran into Bob Gibson twice in that losing streak.
In the first encounter, which I heard on the radio in my suite at Murray, along with my suite mates, and my room mate, all Cardinal fans, Gibson struck out Johnny Callison and Dick Allen with the bases loaded, TWICE (4 strike outs of the two best players, with the bases loaded) in the same 2-1 victory.

For me it's easily Game 6 of the 2011 World Series.

Obviously the most recent National Championship. But that's easier to get over to me considering the drubbing we took. Something I don't know that ill ever per se "get over' is the fact that the Saints didn't win the Super Bowl last year. Flukey turnovers and absolutely the most idiotic and horrid end of game defense I've ever seen gave away a home NFC championship game where I believe we would have drubbed the Giants before whooping the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

The Mulligan Bowl on 1/9 and Alex Smith/Vernon Davis 5 days later.
Gut-wrenching.

The Mulligan Bowl
The Mayflower Move of the Colts
I hate to narrow which Caps Game 7 disaster sticks with me the most... probably the Easter Marathon.
Game 6 of the 1997 ALCS. Tony F'n Fernandez.

I'd be pissed at Norwood too for missing the winning FG, but it was a 47 yarder outside and his team was trailing. Doesn't matter who you are that's not a gimme. Norwood is still the only kicker in Super Bowl history to attempt the winning kick while losing.

Norman collapse at Augusta in 1996 was worse than all three of these combined.

2002 World Cup. That loss to Germany was BS.

1. 1995 World series game 7 loss to Braves (Cle Indians)... Still hate Braves.
2. 2007 LCS loss to Boston... Up 3-0 and still lost.
3. 2011 National Championship to Bama. Never showed up.

I want the champ to be the best, or one of the bes teams from that season. Playing above your head for one game does not make you the best team. G'Town and Nova played 4 times. GT won the first 3. Nova plays unconcious for 1 game and wins by 2 and they get the title, screw that.

You do realize the Astros won the next game to clinch the series right?
Posted on 5/21/12 at 8:59 am to H-Town Tiger
Yeah but Lidge was my favorite Astro at the time, and he was never the same after that. Plus, it was Pujols biggest (of many) moments against the astros, and it sort of kick-started us becoming Philly's minor-league team when we traded him after the next season
