Ok, how about these 3 steps:

keep Jerry Jones as the GM
keep Romo as the over rated QB
remain mediocre

Nobody but Jerry himself wants this. But hiring a guy who just put together a 2-14 team after losing 1 player is not a good idea.

Get rid of a top 10 QB for a guy who will probably not be better? Great idea.

You are an idiot if you think Dallas is stacked with talent.

for a texan you surely seem to have a low sense of self importance.

cowboys have one of the better wr corps in the nfl, easily top quarter of the league. you have a top 10 tight end, a top 10 qb. demarco murray and felix jones(when healthy), are a solid tandemn. romo is a top 10 qb in the league. the line needs a little bit of help, but with better coaching you can mask some of the problems.

defense needs some help but they have some solid cornerstones already in place.

with the talent you have on offense you should win 10 games. if rowdy didnt make some boneheaded calls this year, you win the division. Its a passing league now, with the weapons the cowboys have on offense they should win 10 games period(see greenbay/new england. its all about coaching, rowdy just isnt gettingit done. jerry needs to man up and bring in a head coach with some nuts, not another yes man like campo/wade/rowdy.

Jimmy lucked into big 3 actually.

Irvin was already there
Aikman being a 1 pick
Emmitt from a horrible trade

It wasnt Jimmy or Jerry it was the scouts and ability to get very underrated guys. The core group of that 3 SB run was either Tex's guys or guys that were drafted on speed or size (Williams, Allen)

Look at Dolphins as a test of Jimmy's GM skills.

Forgot to add to previous post J and J lucked into three great players, Novacek Everett and Hayley also. The one guy who I give credit for them not going into bid war was Harper and possibly Stepnoski. But Step was a guy that made that OL do work.

We have good offensive skill position players who, outside of Witten, have missed a lot of games the last 2 years.

The Saints, Packers and Patriots all have really good O lines. The Cowboys O line has been bad the last 2 years.

The Cowboys aren't that good, they beat one team that made the playoffs. That's the same as the Colts & Rams.

Next year they get the NFC South & the AFC North.

had sean payton coached the cowboys this season, how many wins would they have had? id say no less than 10 in a weak nfc east. rowdy is just in over his head.

The O line sucks. The D line is mediocre. Ware is great. Spencer is inconsistent but can be good. The secondary is disgusting. This = 8-8 every year.

I think Jerry is @ a watershed moment.
He can be Stienbrenner in the mid to late 90's, still be the face of the franchise, but surround yourself w smart personnel people. Keep the GM title, press conferences, etc. Just base it on said scouting/personnel decisions.
Sadly, it looks like he is following the path of his mentor, Al Davis, who was also a mentor of Parcells. Exception being Parcells stayed current while Al hasn't.

Amen on Romo. I was skeptical of him until this season.
Only reason having a chance to be leading games was his elusiveness, masking oline problems.
Stopped making dumb decisions that lose games, after early mistakes. Tough SOB.

Again Romo had a solid season, at least statistically. 4th in overall passer rating.
