Jerry lucked into the big 3 but other than that, his GM skills are garbage

HAhaha, you have no idea what you are talking about, what a terribly ignorant comment

Nobody but Jerry himself wants this. But hiring a guy who just put together a 2-14 team after losing 1 player is not a good idea.

Totally agreed. They were planning on letting go Reggie Wayne, and could have lost Bethea IIRC. Peyton made a lot of guys a lot of money for a lot of years, and they have all been exposed. Mainly Tony Dungy for being a racist frickhead for hiring an incompetent mess as a head coach that had absolutely no worthy experience, but Polian is right behind him.

bottom line is that Jerry Jones has solidified the Dallas Cowboys organization from America's Team to the most valuable sports franchise on the planet. Acquired the team for less than $150MM in 1989, and it's worth over $1.8B now.

by that measure, he is the most successful sports owner on the planet.

now, about the general manager title, only time will tell when he decides to change the direction of upper management, but i hope that he considers a move to someone like Bill Parcells in the near future, as i'm tired of being a lifelong fan of the laughing stock of the NFL.

Imagine how much more they would be worth if the Cowboys were winning Super Bowls

Wow, Cowboy fans are reduced to bragging about the value of the franchise, awesome!

I know I'm way more excited about LSU being one of the most valuable CFB teams, who cares about that silly BCS game

You might want to check what the value of all NFL Franchises were in 1989 vs today though.

Benson bought the Saints for $70M in 85 and they are now worth $955M, that's an increse 1365%, vs 1200% increase for the Cowboys under JJ. And the Saints did not get a massive new stadium to boost the value BTW. Im pretty sure New Orleans is on the same planet.

goddamn, son...surely you don't believe that i'm "bragging" on Jones.

i'm just saying that Jerry has no reason to change his ways while he is still printing money.

Yeah, cause clearly his ways as GM are working out great

When people critizie an owner, they are talking about the teams on the field success. Its not like increasing the value of the franchise and winning are mutually exclusive. Only Cowboy fans seem to bring this up though. He bought a team just before NFL revenues exploded, as successful as they were in the 70's and 80's, its only gotten better. The value of all franchises have exploded since 1989, its not like Dallas is a special case, they were 1 of the most valuable franchises when he bought the team and they still are today. They would probalby be even more valuable if they won like NE, GB and Pitt, and the reason they don't is Jerry Jones.
