+1 on Farm Bureau. Cars, houses, etc for more than 20 years. Never any problems. Filed a couple of claims over the years; all were handled by local adjustors and paid promptly.

They were by far the cheapest I saw. $850/year on a $280,000 house with 2% hurricane deductible (no tall trees around my house)

We have had ANPAC on our house for a while, best rates I have found, fortunately haven't had to use it so I can't comment on the claims process - our agent is good about keeping in touch and re-evaluating every year.

Why do you say that? Any specific reason or just generally not happy with them?

I used to work for Allstate in claims. You do NOT want Allstate if you ever have to file a claim. They have the most customer unfriendly claims process in the industry. My job was basically getting yelled at by Allstate customers all day since I was a manager. Worst job I've ever had.

I closed in July of 2013 on my house and went with Maison because they were the cheapest. I recently had to make a claim because I had a pipe leak in my slab. Maison covered the repairs to the plumbing plus nearly my entire kitchen (base cabinets were soaked). They could have given me way less than they did. So I can say Im happy with them

ANPAC is a good company but with that said, I would not get insurance through them if the cost was much higher than another.

I've had ASI for about 5 and a half years. Made a hail claim on my roof last year, and it went very smooth. Biggest selling point for me with them was the named storm deductible is 1K, not a %.

I am about to sign with Maison this week. AIS tried to up my rate by 40%. Maison is based in br, I think, and is offering a $1000 deductible at a cheaper rate than all others with much higher deductibles.

you should know that there's a big difference between having insurance and getting paid for your loss.

Which is why I was asking about different companies trying to find a good one.

Went to an independent agent and Federated National was the best deal (they evidently require a good credit score). Not sure how they are about paying claims because it is a new policy.

I notice there are many different local agencies who underwrite (or w/e it's called) for Federated National. Is there a major difference when choosing which one to use?

ANPAC is a good and fair company, as property insurers go.

Not that I know of but I used a local agent for homeowner's and also changed my car insurance over to him and got my monthly rate cut almost in half.

They refused to pay for anything not specifically on the house, because they don't cover straight line wind damage.

bullshite unless you have an endorsement excluding wind & hail on your policy.

What's the downlow on Federated National? I was already out the game when they came in and I hear a lot about them. I heard they were by far the toughest on the initial inspection.
