Yep, I got one too. Just had one expire 2 days ago that I didn't act on. Still can't decide.

Two days to Italy. Flights and Rome hotel on miles and points.

Which part are you going to? I leave in 2 weeks for Italy (Rome, Florence and Praiano in the Amalfi Coast).
Paid for thanks to cc points as well

Came in the mail this week. And only a 2k spending requirement.
Damn. I wonder if I called, if I could parlay my Platinum invitation into that offer.

Venice, Florence (2 nights each), Tuscany (Chianti region) for 4 nights and then Rome for 3 nights.

Sounds awesome buckeye.
You did British airways for flights, correct?
Any rooms on points?
I just booked my Iberia businesses class ORD-MAD-LHR $115 per ticket plus 62.5k avios during high season next year.

Yes, British Airways for flights. Club Executive Class there and First Class back. I used AA miles for the BA flights. Works out to less that way. I only use Avios for domestic and Caribbean flights from Miami.
Grand Flora Marriott in Rome for 3 nights was on points.

Did yall avoid the high fuel charges by not going through lhr directly?
Or did they lower those a bit?
Or just fill me in if I'm way off

No. I got the 40% bonus by transferring to BA avios then transferred to Iberia avios. no charge.
Iberia doesn't have the over the top fuel surcharges.
Now I just gotta figure out how to get home
Going to see Wimbledon. London hotel prices are amazingly high. I bought IHG points plus had 30k from all the silly amount of money I spent in bora bora, 2 free with IHG cards, and the BOGO you get with ambassador it will cost me $500 for 5 nights.
$250 for flights.
Think I should have rooms and transportation under a grand and flying business or first. Not too shabby.

Nice, I'll have to keep that in mind. I think we're eyeing Europe for Summer 2017, continuing our tradition of flip flopping 3rd world scary places with western places.
Wimbledon should be awesome. My wife lived in London in high school and went a few times. I'm very jealous. Going to US Open over Labor Day weekend. Will be my first tennis tournament so I'm curious how it will be. I signed us all up for the Chase Lounge and hope its awesome because its just us two and her parents, and I want to look like a baller

I'm looking at Italy next year. 10 days. You think that's enough to do Rome, Florence, and Venice?
Posted on 8/23/15 at 8:33 pm to Civildawg
I'll tell you when I get back but my thought is yes. Everything I read and everyone I talk to says one full day for Venice and get out. Two days in Florence seems about right but there is a lot to do and see in Florence. Rome is where I probably won't be spending enough time.

10 days is *really* tight.
Two-ish days in Venice. You'll want at least three in Florence, if not four. One of my favorite cities in the world. How much time you spend in Rome depends on the type of person you are. In my opinion, the longer you spend there, the more you'll like it. I didn't really fall in love with Rome until my fifth or sixth day. Rome is kind of like Paris in that if you just treat it like one postcard destination after another, you're missing the point. You need enough time to do all of those things, and then just wander.

If you spent more than 1 day in Venice, you wasted your time. Get in early, leave late and you saw everything. Stop by a glass blowing place they are cool
Florence is worth 2 days. Rome you'll need way more time than any vacation will give

And I thought I was hard on Venice
I think the hate might be going a little far. Between the sights, the museums, the market, and just wandering, I feel like you can fill a couple of days. I'd have no issue with someone staying one night, and you should stay no more than two, but you can't experience Venice in just a day trip.

What miles and points gets you. Other than being hot and touristy Venice has been lovely.

It isn't being super down on Venice as much as it not being worth the time compared to other places.
Convince me why I should do the Amex Platinum 100k deal. What is the value to me or should I hold out for the Southwest Companion pass deal?

I agree with that statement, but I don't think it directly addresses my concern. I whole heartedly agree that you should spend more time in Florence, or Rome, or shite, even Milan (not Naples, because Naples is a shithole). Doesn't really address my assertion that Venice can't be done in an afternoon. I think Venice justifies two full days (whether that's one or two nights is up to you).
