re: Hotel Payment In London Question... - jsquardjj
1) get a new credit card that waives all transaction fees. Get one that has a big point bonus because you will probably be spending at least 2k on your trip and can get it in no time. No reason not to do this. 2) If you must pay with cash, you can order pounds from your bank in the u.s. before yo...

re: I said, "My name is Patrick!"(police bodycam) - jsquardjj
About as difficult as telling the guy what they are there for. "Michael Clay, we have a warrant for your arrest" would have all that needed to be said. At least then Patrick would have understood that it was a mix up and that he didn't need to be afraid since it would be cleared up quickly....

re: I said, "My name is Patrick!"(police bodycam) - jsquardjj
He was asked to stand up, he did. He then asked, again, what was going on. When he was ignored, again, he sat down. Do you even have to comply to a police officer without a warrant when you are on your own property? For example, if an officer knocks on my door right now and tells me to lay on the...

re: Venmo - Square Cash - Paypal - jsquardjj
I use square for my business. When I first started, I went to Chase to get a credit card processing machine installed. The one they offered was ancient, needed to be plugged into a dial up jack, and had fees around 3.75%. Square is much more user friendly, looks great at the register and I have g...

re: Surprising hotwire experience -- Re: Blind-hotel booking cancellation - jsquardjj
I work consulting in the hospitality industry and hotwire is the only third party booking site I would ever recommend using. You really can get a great deal by using them if you don't mind a little risk. Hotels are not allowed to offer cheaper rates on different websites without getting penalized...

re: What would you do with a (basically) free flight voucher? - jsquardjj
Had the same situation happen to me a few weeks ago. There were three of us, and we had to take the next flight out from LA to Vancouver and we each got $800 for giving up our seat. Absolutely worth it. Use it to go to Europe. Florence, Rom and Amalfi Coast. Depending on your age, it wouldn't eve...

re: Forget violent rapist Alton Sterling, it's Philando Castile who needs coverage - jsquardjj
Question about this incident and police protocol in general: If a suspect is shot, is the police officer not allowed to also help the victim if threat of danger is cleared? I am just wondering why he was not able to help the guy or allow the girlfriend to move and give instructions to slow the bl...

re: Mardi Gras with small children - jsquardjj
Mardi Gras in New Orleans can be great with small kids. I would recommend finding a good spot on St. Charles street near or on Napoleon. Better to be at the beginning of night parades with kids because they end quicker. The Wednesday and Thursday night parades are really fun and have a lot of coo...

re: Forget violent rapist Alton Sterling, it's Philando Castile who needs coverage - jsquardjj
I agree with just about everything you said. I don't think this was a Kkk style execution, but a poorly trained police officer with some predisposed notions along racial lines. Quick story from my high school days: Friend and I (both white girls) had just turned 16 and were driving in her new ...

Pick one city in Costa Rica - jsquardjj
Planning a trip with my family, ranging from 3yrs - 62yrs. This will be everyone's first time in Costa Rica. We thought about splitting it up between two cities, but have decided to do only one since we only have a week. I was thinking about a little south of Manuel Antonio. Does anyone have any ...

re: 1 Day in San Francisco - jsquardjj
State bird provisions is my favorite. Bar crudo is down the street and has a fabulous happy hour. You could do both in one night. Just make sure to be in line about 15 minutes before they open. We really enjoyed slanted door as well. ...

re: Will West Coast rap ever be relevant again? - jsquardjj
You asked if it would be relevant again, not if it would be the same as the early 90s. It is very relevant today. If you live in the south, you hear southern rap on the radio all the time. In the 90s, there was no southern rap so the only thing you heard was the west coast scene, sprinkled with N...
