Yeah it's cool you'll still have a good time. Women there are very attractive.

As far as travel is concerned, for a person living in the South, to meet attractive women - I'd suggest no travel.

Are 2 days enough in Florence?

If you're referring to only the city of Florence 2-3 days is probably enough, if you want to get out to the Tuscan countryside then you may want to spend a few more days there. We did 2 days in the city and another 4 in a hilltop villa south of the city. I could recommend getting out to the Chianti region for some vineyard tours.

If you want to see the David, get advanced tickets.

We enjoyed Florence much more than Rome.

If you enjoy great wine, great food and incredible old villages you're going to want for more Tuscany. We can't wait to get back.

Two days in Florence was perfect for us. We did the Uffizi tour and the Accademia Gallery in two days. Each tour is about three hours so I wouldn't do them in one day. Tour in the morning, a wonderful lunch and enjoy the city.

Be sure to see this view at night. The first was from our hotel room and the second from the adjacent bridge. We were lucky to catch the full moon and a clear night.

We spent 9 days in Italy back in 2015 and did the Tuscan countryside, Florence, and Cinque Terre. I would rank those three destinations as:
1. Tuscan countryside
2. Cinque Terre
3. Florence

Enjoyed all three areas a lot but big cities aren't my thing so Florence was a bit stressful at times. Cinque Terre is overloaded with tourists, I wish we could've gone a decade or so ago before it got noticed.

We used Volterra as our base in the Tuscan countryside and really loved that town. Awesome views from the hilltop, tons of history, and not too big of a place. My favorite village we visited was Monticchiello. It's a village of maybe 200 people with awesome views of the Val D'Orcia. Our favorite restaurant of the entire trip, La Taverna di Moranda, is in Monticchiello. If we ever go back to Italy again we'd go out of our way to eat there again, best meal of our life!

I got nothing planned really.

My wife went on the job market(successfully) and we're now moving to Austin. She'll be pretty much tied up impressing folks the rest of the year.

I'll be hitting domestic locations for weddings and meetups.

I'm hoping we can squeeze something in easy. I'd be cool with Tulum around Day of the Dead or something interesting like that.

Hopefully means we can do something next summer as opposed to always traveling in the winter.

Milan sucks. Even a 1/2 day is plenty. Go see the Cathedral and then jump on a train to Venice.

Did you mistype? Why would you go, leave, and go back?

I did mistype haha. Corrected.

Thats what I heard about Milan. But my flight comes in at 630 PM that night. Going to go check out the Cathedral (from the outside) and start driving to Venice.

I am trying to get that switched to an earlier flight out of LHR to maybe have a chance at squeezing in the Cathedral during the day. I have a 5 hr layover there and I do know there are earlier flights that would suit me. I don't want to re-route to somewhere else because I want to try the new AA product. So it is either me getting lucky and a seat opening up or getting on stand by at the airport.

Those flight sites are good but the problem is they're not specialized for the new orleans/baton rouge area for most of the people on this site. That's pretty much why I do the weekly/bi-weekly thread so people in the area know what a good price is for domestic or international destinations. I'll start browsing international locations more often if I know there's the demand.

In any case if anyone needs help with flights just find me on here and let me know

ETA: Next trip is Dallas for Easter, then Philly to go home for a weekend the end of April, possibly Beijing for a conference over labor day. I need a cheesesteak or wawa soon...

Are you looking at recommendations as to where to go? How to go about booking/where to book it?

I think Chile, the Santiago region is known for its wine. I would check that out. Argentina has wine regions too. And it has Patagonia. So that may tip the scale a bit.

If you plan on going to Chile (or Peru) see if you can get on a LAN flight to Easter island as well. Not for the wine but just for the awe.

Personally, I've come to terms with the fact that whenever I want to fly internationally (on $$) I have to drive to either Houston or Dallas. BTR and MSY both suck in both prices and conditions (though I could care less about the latter if the former was worthy).
Locally, I stick with MSY for the most part to get on SW (have the SW CP). Othewise on Spirit unless AA/UA are matching fares like currently to LAX where MSY-LAX is $195 on UA
