We start the year with a win against them and we will have all the street cred.

bullshite to be the best you have to play and beat the best, Oregon wins the NC and we beat them to start the year how great is that. Quit thinking like a coward.

I'm not a "negaTiger" although I'm sure having a cute little name to categorize people makes you feel better about yourself. I'm a Tiger fan and I'm talking Tigers. Shut up.

Why play a game that we could quite possibly lose starting the season 0-1 and then be essentially out of the race?

Because we could start the season 1-0 against what could possibly be a defending national champion.

There are seven one-loss teams right now and LSU is on top of them all in the BCS. Why? Strength of schedule. Beating teams like WVU and UNC on top of our SEC schedule has put us here.

If we can't beat Oregon, then we don't deserve to be the NC anyway. If we don't take risks, we won't win shite.

Clearly the current system is overly generous to undefeated teams. Look how Boise and TCU benefit from playing a weak schedule.

Then let's go undefeated with an awesome schedule and get into an NC game over them.

Uhhh. . . they are both undefeated.

Yeah, and if TCU and Boise had played tougher schedules than they would be in the NC game over Oregon and AU. Schedule Strength matters.

Every eye in the CFB world will be on that game.

I have no problems with it at all.

I find your lack of faith disturbing! If you're a big LSU fan, you should be excited about an oppurtunity to play a good opponent in an environment like that. I personally can't wait for it! And think about how good it will look on our resume if we do beat them....if us and Oregon both finish the season with one loss, then we obviously have the edge in the rankings.

I hate playing cupcakes. The games are just glorified scrimmages and they do nothing to enhance the prestige of our program. Playing against legit opponents like UNC, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Oregon is what we should be doing as one of the heavyweight programs in college football. And in my opinion, playing a tough, legit team early in the season gives us a lot better idea of where we stand than playing SE New Mexico A&M. Surely it prepares the team better, both physically and mentally, for the challenges ahead.

See 2007. If we would not have played and beaten Va Tech, they may have been playing for the NC. You need to schedule these type of opponents. Darron Thomas could blow out his acl during spring practice and then Oregon would be screwed. shite happens. To be the best you have to beat the best.

if the SEC is so strong, as you say, then if we lose that game and then go undefeated and win the SEC championship, we will be very much in the race.

Why is the Oregon game a mistake? Yes, LSU already has a tough schedule, but Oregon proving this yr that they don't need to play anyone to reach the championship game. Who would a loss hurt worse? Oregon has more to lose. If they lose, they're done for the yr. If LSU loses, they still have enough difficult games to get back to the top. Since when did LSU fans get scared of playing top teams?

I personally like it... Although I know how hard it is playing Florida, Bama, Auburn, Ole Piss, Miss State, and Arkansas year in and year out I like the occasional lets see what someone else has... This is the first time since I can remember we played a real power house... Maybe since Va Tech in 2007? Love it

But if you start 1-0 against them, looks amazing the rest of the way
