re: Trump at 54.9% at 538...before the debate? - lsumatt
There are about 6 or 7 "blue" states that are barely blue and if any turned red he would be over 270. In nate's model, trump has less than 50% chance of winning any of them individually, but as a whole would probably win at least one. ...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
I will be using my priority pass (via CSR) tomorrow for the first time on my way to Dubai. I will go through JFK on the way there and San Fran on the way back. Advice on the best ones at those 3 airports? What are the rules regarding guests with priority pass? It seems like you pay $30 per guest ...

re: A comic related to global warming. Are we doomed? - lsumatt
Can we add average life span, infant mortality rate, per capita income, and average quality of life to that plot too? Any chance the supposed cause of the warning on the plot has also had a positive effect on these other things?...

re: FiveThirtyEight Update 9/4: Trump now projected to win NC and Iowa - lsumatt
He has to win Ohio. He's not going to win Pennsylvania without Ohio, because PA is basically a bluer Ohio. So whatever he does in Ohio subtract 3-7 points in PA...

re: Can Trump win pop. vote big and still lose electorate? - lsumatt
No, not really. It is a near statistical impossibility to win the popular vote by more than 2% and lose the college. Even a 1% popular edge makes the candidate a big favorite. People use al gore as an example but he only won the popular vote by 0.5% and lost multiple states by extremely slim margins...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
I just booked a venue for a wedding reception. It is a "club" that specializes in dining. They charge an extra 3.5% to pay with credit card. My first reaction was to not pay with credit card but it may still be worth it if I use the CSR or freedom card (at the right quarter) if it counts as dining r...

Not likely. I got the CSP specifically to pay for an engagement ring and even though they promised to "overnight it" it took almost a week to get it from when I applied in the branch. ...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
Thanks for all the help. That is really useful information.
The Sapphire Reserve
I just read up on this. It seems like the same thing as the AmEX Platinum, but better (except maybe no Centurion access). So that is probably the way to go and I can consolidate it with other Chase ...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - lsumatt
1) dream trip is probably something all inclusive beach trip - maybe hawaii 2) I should be able to meet minimum spending limits especially since I will be paying for an expensive wedding over the next 9-10 months (I assume most things can be spent on credit cards). However, I have spent my whole ...

I am interested in an American Express Platinum Card and probably soon since I am flying internationally next month. Some background, I have had only American express Blue for 12 years but recently got the CSP card with the 50K bonus. This thread has inspired me to broaden my cards. I recently r...

re: National Polls mean nothing in a Presidential race - lsumatt
This argument is old and worn out. Yes, we are all aware that the president is elected via the electoral college. However, it isn't statistically possible in modern America for a candidate to win the election if they are more than about 2 percent behind the other candidate in the popular vote (ev...
