LSU will skyrocket in all human polls after a victory.
We could potentially jump from the 4-6 range into first place. We would receive at least 15 first place votes
after such a victory. We are very fortunate to have an aggressive athletic department that will have LSU as one of the most heavily exposed pre-season teams.

Aside from the slopfest in Disneyland last year, where our speed was neutralized, what happens every time you give Les a long time to prepare? How motivated will our players be when they train all offseason?

This move, IMO, will allow our team to truly reach it's potential next year.

Get used to it. LSU is an elite football program.

The problem is the issue your raised IS NOT a legitimate issue....

Couldn't agree more! This is the game that will be talked about all summer long. LSU will get 10x more media attention than they did before the UNC game this year. I for one love these games. I also love it being in Dallas as thats a lot closer to where I live and I'll be going!

With the way our schedule is lining up now playing a lot tougher OOC games, LSU is going to get a lot more respect around the nation and a lot of recruits that might not have thought about LSU before will start thinking about it.

Anyone who is not excited for this game has one massive vagina and you need to go clean the sand out of it.

Man up what don't you? This is the sort of stuff that makes me like to come on the LSU board. Some of you guys are so hard to please. The VT game got you in last time you won the NC. It off set the 2 SEC games. Say you play Regional U or whomever in week 1 that year. You guys would have not seen the light of day.

We will crush Oregon's hopes and dreams week one. If we played them week one this year and won we would be #4 in the BCS right now.

This is what I am talking about.

We open vs Oregon. Not state. We are the marquee matchup the opening weekend, along with Boise v Georgia.

If we BOTH win STFU EVERYBODY but SEC !!

Your stance on the issue at hand says otherwise.

The opener against Oregon is NOT a mistake, and here are the main reasons:

-Financially, it is a windfall day for LSU athletics.

-The EASIEST way to move up in the BCS is to beat the teams in front of you, not simply play in the SEC.

-2004 showed us that a team can win the SEC undefeated, but if two preseason favorites also run the table, the SEC team could still be left out. Thus, in 2011, we will eliminate one of the favorites in Week 1.

-Recruiting wise, it makes incredibly more sense to play in Dallas/Ft. Worth area against a high-profile opponent than to play UL-Direction at Tiger Stadium on Tigervision.

-The idea of avoiding opponents because LSU might lose should never enter the AD's head when making a schedule. He should look at the big picture, and the big picture says that wins like the one we will have against Oregon will get a team a shite-ton of mileage throughout the season.

If you want to be the best, you must play the best. When we beat the best teams there will be no question as to WHO is the NC.

Only problem LSU is a slow starter. We never have played worth a shite the first 2 games of any season. We could schedule Ga. ST. like bama!

Don't forget that we go to WVU as well.

SEC road games at Miss St, Tennessee, Old Miss, and Bama.

We have a couple walkovers too, but on 1st glance that's a tuff schedule to play when you match it with what TCU or BS will face.

Should be another exciting season for LSU football and

This game makes no sense to me. We already have strength of schedule (SEC!) so we need no help there. Why play a game that we could quite possibly lose starting the season 0-1 and then be essentially out of the race? Clearly the current system is overly generous to undefeated teams. Look how Boise and TCU benefit from playing a weak schedule.
If you want to be the best team in the country, prove it by beating one of the best teams in the country. This is the same no matter if you are an Oregon or an LSU fan.

It makes perfect sense to me. Unless you're afraid of losing to a PAC 10(or 12) team.

what a weak post.

the half full version is that if LSU beats one of the west coast icons, LSU will get votes from those media and coaches, the rest of the season, as well as media in the Dallas Ft Worth area covering the game.

VT begs to differ. So to does Arizona, Miss St, Appalachian State and North Texas.

I disagree. Game is a big plus not only in national visibility for the program, but also in the very large & very fertile N. Texas recruiting grounds.

Now on first glance, most would say that the epic clash of Pac-10(12) and SEC powers is irresponsible scheduling on the Tigers part. With Oregon having a cupcake conference schedule it only makes sense for them to schedule a tougher out of conference opponent. For LSU, they play in the SEC...the S-E-C for goodness sake. Their competition's stiffer than and old man's nether regions after 2 Viagra. However, this is the game all Tiger Fans have been waiting for since 2003, when USC stole a part of our national title. This is a chance to take down the "best" of the Pac-10(12). With USC no longer holding the reins of that conference, it's time for the SEC's best to take out the Pac-10(12)'s best in a battle of titans. On the menu in Jerry World next fall - Duck...Quack Quack Chip Kelly. Better bring your A game.
