This game is much more dangerous for Oregon than for LSU. We could overcome a loss. I don't think they could. Especially since Luck will probably leave this year and Stanford should be a little worse. Even at 11-1, where would an impressive win be on their schedule. Although, I suppose an argument could be made that that is why they need this game. Regardless, like everybody else has said, you can't be scared to lose these games. What a bitch.

I enjoy the out of conference matchups with 2 good teams. Not very exciting playing ULM, Tulane, and La Tech.

My philosophy in order to be the best, you got to beat the best!

Oregon will definitely be a challenge!

This game makes a ton of sense, in plenty of ways actually.
1) Signature, marque game, elevates both teams in the national consciousness ahead of contenders from the Big 10 and Big 12. The winner, and if the game is close, the loser too, gets a "perception" tiebreaker over Ohio St, Oklahoma etc
2) We just opened this season in a similar "neutral field" game; this game in Houston does the same, but also helps with the Texas market in recruiting. We should have a definite homefield advantage, moreso than Atlanta
3) Gives our team a bowl environment experience, early.
4) Oregon for what it's worth seems to open slowly the last few years. Might be the best time to catch them, not in game 3.

We should be top 5 next year, regardless of the rest of this season. You think the Duck fans are scared to play us?

These are the games that make players want to come to LSU plus we will get exposure in Texas by playing in Cowboys stadium. It is a win win situation plus $

From the jump I thought this game being schedueld next eyar was a bad move, but I also thoguht they'd more the West Va game to another year. Having both in the same year is just silly IMO.

How epic would it be if we beat them in Cowboy's Stadium in September then beat them again for all the marbles in the Superdome? Plus grilled Duck is great for Tailgating.

This game makes no sense to me. We already have strength of schedule (SEC!) so we need no help there. Why play a game that we could quite possibly lose starting the season 0-1 and then be essentially out of the race? Clearly the current system is overly generous to undefeated teams. Look how Boise and TCU benefit from playing a weak schedule.

Given the nature of pollsters, it's actually best to lose the first game of the year to a top-notch opponent if you're going to lose. Either way, stu-stu-stu-stu-stupid po-po-po-post.

WHY? Next year is the year MOST here have thought LSU would be STACKED for a BCS CG run, so why not just play these bitches, beat these bitches, and leave NO QUESTION that EVEN IF we have 1 loss (which I don't think we will) we deserve to be in the SHIP!!

If LSU wins this game opener and goes on to do very well in the rest of the schedule....could you imagine the respect that LSU would get?

Well yeah if you lose it's pretty bad. If you win however....the implications for your season are HUGE.

That schedule next year is a beast but we are also primed for a SERIOUS run. So...it works both ways

Just dont lose. lol

CRAP!! A TEam that runs the Auburn/Ole Miss Offense. I hope our Defense figures this out over the next year!! or the ducks may get 700 yards offense

As hard as we go up field as a defense and as good as Ore is at their version of the spread!

The reason we're such a great defense is the same reason we can get torched sometimes. Fast and to the ball which creates big hits, turnovers, and can be overwhelming at times. We've seen the evidence of how it can backfire against a QB that's as much of or more of a threat with the ball than his backs are. The results were some huge holes and big plays. Kinda scares me too, and according to this thread that makes me a huge vag....I'm cool with that. At least we have a long time to prepare.

Unless we get smoked, the hype leading up to this game will make it worth it. Hell, they tried to make Boise Va Tech the game of the century.

IF we have learned ANYTHING in the BCS era it is that IF you are going to lose it is BETTER to lose EARLY!

I have a unique perspective:
Proud LSU Grad.
Born in Eugene.
Daughter running track next year in Corvallis.
Live in North Texas.

Lose? Who would think of such a thing?
Oh! this is the rant.
I forgot, the sky is falling........
Recruiting, Recruiting, Recruiting.
Did I say that enough?
Texas and A&M are afraid, very afraid.
This gets us in many recruits' living rooms.
$$$$$$$$$$ - They're playing in Jerry-World....
Oh.... and Lesticles is awesome.
This falls right in line with his approach:
Go for it!

This game is a great opportunity. It’s a huge game to kick things off in the heart of a recruiting base that the program wants to continue to tap. I sure wouldn’t chalk this one up as a loss either.

Edit: looks like I was late to the party with this...

bullshite to be the best you have to play and beat the best, Oregon wins the NC and we beat them to start the year how great is that. Quit thinking like a coward.

+1

Katy is 100% right. It makes no sense to tout the superiority of the SEC then run and hide from the opportunity for a statement game against Pac duck.
