FWIW, there are a lot of us out here that feel the same way you do. I'd cough up $5 to $100 if it meant the pep band could go.

Keep up the fight....

It's the logistics of actually reserving the rooms, getting the block of tickets, arranging for bus transportation, etc.

Leave that up to them. Tell them to get a price on everything and we'll raise it. Hell if it saves them a few bucks, I'll shuttle a few of them from the airport to their hotel in my rental...

Solution.

If the AD still wont budge and nothing can be worked out to send the FULL BAND to the Bama game, All GBFTL members should car pool up to Tuscaloosa. It's only about 5 hours up there. Let the AD rent a few vans for the Sousaphones, Bass Drums and whatever other instruments can't fit into cars. Band members do have automobiles don't they?. Just organize a GBFTL caravan.....

Unfortunately, they can't do that. There was a fiasco in 1987 because the busses didn't show up to take the band to Jackson for the game against Ole Miss. Band members had to carpool and there was an accident on the way there. Because of potential lawsuits, they were warned to NEVER do that again.

I'm pretty sure most would prefer the full band at an SEC game over new LED video boards for the tennis courts and natatorium.

Like I've said before, I compare this to LSU deciding that because of budget cuts, we won't have an LSU logo sticker on the side of helmets next year. We will have just plain canary yello helmets.

Then the "Delicate Genius's" will retort back that we don't need logos on the helmets because LSU was just added to the jerseys. (Even though you will need a pair of binoculars to see those tiny little LSU Geaux Font logos on the front of the jerseys).

I'm not really worried about the Washington game, but I really don't think the DG's realize the backlash it's going to cause if they don't send the full band to at least one SEC game....

I dont know if anyone was listening or has posted it but this whole movement got some buzz on the fastest hour at the end of the show. they said they'll be talking about it tomorrow so it seems to be gaining some momentum.

does the term bush league mean anything to you?
That would be embarrassing for the school if it got out.

Without going all the way thru this thread, did Herb ever respond to your proposal?

Did you give him the idea of a band made of alumni members?

I found out today that I am getting layed off on sept. 25th my birthday no less and I am willing to make a donation surely others will too.

Thanks for all your efforts, hopefully they will atleast consider these options.

No, no response yet from the athletic department other than that first email from Herb ... I'll certainly post it as soon as I get something.

where's scrappy doo, we can get him to try getting vincent on the show tomorrow to hold his feet to the fire. I am not even going to Washington and I think its a must that Tiger band be there in some shape or form. As far as the full band trip, I would think that Starkville is the cheapest, easiest trip.

I can understand no band in Seattle..... but no full band SEC trip? Are you kidding me? That's probably the shittiest thing they can do. Is LSU really that low on cash? That is unfair to the band and to the fans. I can assure you there will be a good number of SEC schools bringing their entire band into tiger stadium this year.

Sorry, I love the band but with the money crunch this is the right decision.

Right decision? And how much wasted on national recruiting... especially west coast.

Didn't some old dude just pass and donate $25 million to LSU Athletics?

Wonder where that money dissappeared to so fast.

I'm friends with Andre Moreau, and he says WAFB will probably be doing a story on this Tuesday night ... just FYI. According to him, David Spunt or Keitha Nelson will probably be doing the interviews, etc.
