Nice try and fail. We're talking scheme. The "pick" was execution by the players.

Its a game plan thing, man. You can't always approach the game the same way every week. I don't care if we run I formation all day against Eastern Michigan because you know it will get the job done. But against a team like Bama, why not copy what other teams have had success with? Its not a wholesale change of your offense or philosophy. Its just doing what you need to do to win. I'm a Les supporter. I think he is the second best coach in our league. But I also think that there are two or three other coaches in our league who would have taken our team into Tuscaloosa and come out victorious. Either because their typical style of play gives bama fits or because they are willing to put aside pride and step out of their comfort zone.

Harris was brought along slowly and started to develop as a passer.

Yes, and it worked well for him so far...

He has enough ability to implement some other rather simple things (adjustments to what Bama was doing) to have been successful. Miles chose not to do so.

The adjustment plays were called. Harris did not execute them. In my mind because we have not used them enough but don't say adjustments were not made... The second quarter should be evidence of that.

I liked a lot of what I saw in the first 7 games as you could see a progression towards a more diverse offense. The pace of this progression is very slow and with many steps backwards to what Miles/Cam feel most comfortable doing. S Carolina, portions of Florida game, and second half W Kentucky games were probably more an aberration and not something Miles/Cam embrace.

No type of scheme, offense or defense, can overcome this type of holding.

LINK

When Alabama can get away with this type of play well then you better be ready to do something creative.

Indeed he is, probably why he never said the quote in question. But hey, I bet you read it on the internet, so it must be true. Bonjour

You do what your players can do best in order to win games. LSU's strength on offense is obviously the power run game. Unfortunately for us, that is exactly what Alabama is best at defending.
Somebody has rational thoughts for a change.

What i think an issue is, and i may be wrong, but its the nature of a QB's progressions in Cam's offense.

I have heard it multiple times that the QB looks deep to shallow instead of left to right like a lot of offenses. IF so then i think that puts pressure on our offense to wait for deep routes to develop while the window for underneath stuff closes.

I would like to see Harris to have more dump off underneath passes.

Why would we change our philosophy it works. One game a year is where it needs tweaking not an entire change. Fournette is avg 200+ yds a game. Why would we frick with that? Just needs some wrinkles for the Bama game bc Bama stips that consistently.

you think that just a few new wrinkles is all we need? WE tried a few new wrinkles and they got stuffed or were off the mark.

just because our philosophy works against teams we have superior talent to doesn't mean its a great philosophy. Perhaps we can have a better philosophy that works even better against our weeker opponents but also gives us a better shot at our equal and our stronger opponents

We tried this to start the second half and immediately turned the ball over and let the game get away from us. This team is not ready yet to be a fully loaded offense, the passing game just isn't there.

That was a telegraphed play. The defense never bought the pa, and they even came out and said lsu runs that play every game and he knew exactly when bh was gonna throw the ball based on where on the field he was. It was predictable.

Actually, many people stated that they weren't going to be able to just line up against Bama and run it right through the teeth of their D like any other team.

We kept running out of the same formations though into the teeth of their D. Adujustments come in many forms...formations, personnel, etc.

That type offense is beyond Miles' ability. He would need to hire a coach that can implement this type of philosophy. Not sure if that old dog Cam has it in him to take on such a drastic change. I agree 100 percent with your suggestion. This would require Les to become more of a figure head and have less involvement. He is stubborn in this regard. What is Les' skill as a coach? Offensive line? Wide receivers? Defense? Adjustments? Game planning? He is a descent recruiter. But falls short with getting the right players of need. This has been touched upon with his inability to get a true center or linebackers or quarterbacks. He is overpaid for the product he sells on Saturdays and therefore should be considered an average coach in a marquee job.

go to more of a shotgun 3wr set base formation that uses a lot more short passes and QB runs along with the deep passes in order to spread out the defense

sounds like the west coast offense...where do I sign the petition for change?
