I'm surprised that such a normally sound poster posted such nonsense. I'm not surprised that it is being enthusiastically upvoted. It reinforces my belief that most of you should be wards of the state.

First, you say it's not the scheme, then you say we should abandon the I-formation and go shotgun and 3-wide. That's abandoning our main scheme, buddy.

Next, do you not realize that, once our TE and FB were injured, we did exactly as you suggest? We were spectacularly unsuccessful at it. Before that, when we were running "our scheme" we were destroying everyone.

What we really should do is what we were doing in 2013 - throw the 10 to 15 yard outs. But you have to have a QB who can do it. Oddly, Cam seems to let Harris throw square-ins to the wideout or outs to the slot guy, but rarely outs to the wide guy. In 2012 Mett was destroying Bama with deep outs until they decided to run it three straight downs.

as for scheme I am saying we should remain a 'pro style' but just the more modern type that uses the spread concepts that Alabama, Clemson (though not classified as pro style), and the NFL use.

Not really, it had it's ups and downs. It is a work in progress but there is no reason our players can't learn to do it and that Cam can't coach it. We were doing a lot more of it from the start of the season than we have in past years

no we shouldn't do what we did in 2013, 2014 and prior years. We should continue to build on the things we started trying to do in 2015. More shotgun, more single back 3 wr sets, more short and medium passes, more passes to RB's, more to TE's, more QB runs and more read options, more motion, and misdirection, better designed routes (like the pick routes bama used against us), more RB runs out of the gun. Get the ball to our playmakers in space to make plays and open up the box and running lanes for Fournette. ETc.

Everyone says this like they forget that we were bailed out by an NFL QB and WRs CONSTANTLY.

I can't even count how many times ZM completed a 3rd and 20+ pass against UGA that year. Even with those outside studs, we still pretty reliably ran on 1st and 2nd down thus putting ZM in MUST complete situations where he came through. It was wonderful but you knew that shite wasn't going to happen every game. You knew that eventually, ZM would be off or you'd have a few key drops and the whole "pass only when forced" philosophy would break down.

what gets me is what we left on the table in 2013. What could have been. We were good when we could have been great.

It seems obvious at this point that a CLM team will always enter a game with a philosophy or scheme or call it whatever you want to call it but his team will lineup and try to impose its will on the other team by running between the tackles. This will work 90% of the time because LSU has better personnel than most teams. Its the other 10% of the time that drives us all nutts because it is obvious his game plan is not working and he either refuses to acknowledge it and make adjustments or he is not capable of making the needed adjustments during the game and will continue to ram his head into a brick wall - over and over and over and over and over........you get the point!!
