Beckham had 5 catches for 118 yards

He also had three costly drops. He seems to do well catching intermediate passes but really struggles with the longer stuff. He wasn't the only person dropping the ball though. LSU really needs someone to step up in the WR spot besides Landry and Beckham.

What was the 3rd drop?

When he drops it, it's pretty friggin costly. As in 40-50 yards we don't get

I'm not complaining about him. I love having him on the team and think he's a good football player. But unless he starts catching passes more consistently then he'd not the All-SEC stud everyone wants to make him out to be

The problem is every one is making a huge issue of blaming Beckham, who had a hell of a game, without any thoughts of any blame on Mettenberger, who also had a hell of a game. Neither of the throws he dropped were optimally placed balls. It's something they both need to work on.

In the meantime making 5 page thread after 5 page thread is getting a little redundant.

You're reading WAY too much in to that bro. Most on here talk like he's the next great thing. I was just making the point that he drops the ball too much to be considered elite, great, or whatever you want to call it. "All SEC" was just a way of saying he's not as great as most say he is

Dude....he was wide open and both passes hit BOTH hands. IDGAF if it wasn't "optimally" placed. A game changing WR has to make that catch 10/10 times

Are you blind or just stupid? Both passes were in Beckham's hands and need to be caught. The first one was particularly egregious as it was wrapped up with a fricking bow.

It seems to me that you don't completely understand the definition of "optimal".

I agree with a lot of what you just said. Especially about Jarvis. Hes a stud. And not just in the passing game. But excels in run blocking as well. He could very well be the best overall player on the team right now.

While i do think Jarvis is clearly better than OBJ, there isnt a "huge" dropoff. Odelle is bettter when he has the ball in his hands with his moves. He just is an inconsistent pass catcher. But still a good WR.

I look for Dural to improve as the season gets going. People need to remember that was his 1st game action of his career. And it was up against very good DBs.

Im very pleased with our WRs at the moment.

i'll stick by my statement that OBJ is a great compliment to Landry.

I think what OBJ is weak at is catching the ball in tight coverage.

As long as he has a little separation from the DB he does pretty well, but get a guy hanging on him, and he doesn't really fight to make the catch as well as Landry does.
