re: Something is up with lb recruiting - lsuexpert57
Word is that Reid is more of an OLB type and LSU feels they have enough of those. They prefer to use their remaining spots on ILB types....

re: I believe if these four players win their match up, we win the game. - lsuexpert57
First of all, Allen almost always lines up as a right DE, though they do move him around a bit. This means the responsibility of blocking him will mostly fall to Clapp and Malone. On passing downs they will probably chip him with an H-back or RB. I do think we will try and run quite a bit behind Bou...

re: Question for the defensice x and o guys re: ole miss game - lsuexpert57
Actually, If I'm not mistaken, they beat the pick play to Engram on consecutive plays down there on the goal line. The one you mentioned, then another pick play to the opposite side to Engram also broke up by Adams....

re: Could Ensminger bring anything new to the table at this point? - lsuexpert57
I don't think we need any "new" plays. The plays we have are just fine. Teams like Bama and GA and Ark run the same type of scheme we do, they just seem to mix it up better than we have. Thats all I am really hoping for, just being less predictable, especially early in games....

re: What kind of playcaller will Ensminger be? - lsuexpert57
He was considered the better passer out of he and Woodley, even though it was Woodley who eventually made it to the NFL. (I will have to google it, but is Woodley still the only ex-LSU QB to ever start a Super Bowl?) In my mind, the only changes he could make on such short notice is simply being mor...

What kind of playcaller will Ensminger be? - lsuexpert57
So he hasn't been an OC since he was at Clemson. I admit to being clueless about the type scheme's he ran while he was an OC. What changes, if any, can we expect from an Ensminger run offense?...

re: Etling is better.. but is his arm weak? - lsuexpert57
The deep ball is perhaps not the most accurate measure of a QB's arm strength, but its really the only one that we have as fans, that is not subjective. I looked back at as many of Harris long throws as I could find, and there were none that traveled over 55 yards in the air. In the few samples that...

re: Aranda playing to D's strength. Runs a 4 man front on half of the plays vs MS ST - lsuexpert57
I think Aranda could see that Neal being his 5 tech in the 3-4 wasn't going to work, Neal is so much more effective as a 4-3 7 tech. I will say this though, after watching the reps that both Herron and Valentine got against MSU, I think a 3 man front of Godchaux, Herron and Valentine, with the LB f...

re: Danny Etling vs Mississippi State - lsuexpert57
With his quick release, calmness in the pocket and his mobility, he reminds me most of Matt Flynn. Maybe he will be lucky like Flynn and CFB will have one of those crazy seasons like 2007 and give is a chance to get into the playoffs even with two losses. Running the table from here on out seems lik...

re: Freshman D line - lsuexpert57
I was surprised that Herron didn't seem to get many snaps, if any, at 5 tech during the JSU game. The only time I noticed him he was playing 7 tech on passing downs. I would think he has the potential to be a better 5 tech than Neal....

re: Freshman D line - lsuexpert57
I agree that Neal is not ideally suited to be a 5 tech. Fortunately we seemed to spend quite a few plays with a 4 man line and Neal back in his old 7 tech spot against JSU and will probably continue to do this against spread teams. Perhaps later in the season one of the freshmen will have played wel...

re: How many schools would love to have Diarse, Quinn and Johnson..... - lsuexpert57
Actually I differ from you in the other direction. I think both Quinn and Diarse will both do better in their new situations with me being less confident in Johnson's future play, only because of worrisome reports of his poor work ethic. We shall see....

How many schools would love to have Diarse, Quinn and Johnson..... - lsuexpert57
...as their 3 starting wideouts! I would hazard a guess that all but maybe 5 or 6 schools in the country would consider themselves extremely lucky to have this threesome as their starters. Amazing that we can lose these 3 in a matter of a few months and still be LOADED at WR!...

re: Do we\should we finally offer Scott now? - lsuexpert57
The most important takeaway from Scott's recruitment is that it is not just LSU that isn't interested in him....its EVERY SEC school who arent interested! As far as I know no one in the SEC has offered him...maybe Vandy or Kentucky...but I don't think even they have. Not saying he won't turn...

Jim McElwain is my new favorite SEC coach! - lsuexpert57
Besides Les Miles of course. The guy is all class, and seems to be a genuinely good guy besides being a great football coach. To get Florida this good this fast doesn't bode well for us. I expect that Florida football will be back to national championship level within the next season or two. Cong...
