How about she’s not good enough

Sounds like nothing but excuses for her and her trainers shortcomings. Everyone likes to blame others for their failures.
Yeah. Why wasn’t the trainer training her for her role at LSU? Was he doing things independently from the coaching staff without discussing plans with the coach and player?

So basically she wants to go somewhere to be the main scoring option. That’s not LSU.

I like HVL. But these comments are the efforts of a failed trainer to cast blame elsewhere. The truth is, HVL coming to LSU was a Hail Mary attempt to get into the WNBA and it didn’t work. Alexis Morris, one of the best point guards to ever play at LSU couldn’t make the WNBA. HVL can go play anywhere she wants, and I don’t blame her for trying to do what she thinks is best for her. But the tough reality she’s going to have to eventually face is that she will never play in the WNBA.

She had the lowest FG% of her career this year, by like 4% which isn’t insignificant. Sounds like a her/them problem.

You would’ve thought Aneesah Morrow would’ve had more issues figuring out how to play with Angel but she’s an All American and was on the Wooden Award watchlist. But I’m sorry but HVL only LSU season was a train wreck. I think HVL see the talent that’s coming in and decided it was to much competition at the 2 spot especially with it being Mikaylah Williams sophomore year, she probably would have been third coming off the bench. I wish her well because I believe this is not her, it’s the trainer covering his arse.

This sounds very much like a CYA by the trainer. I'm not sure this is in HVL's best interest. If she doesn't work out elsewhere, is the trainer going to come out and make more excuses?

quote:There are different types of point guards. i thought she would be used as a sort of Steve Kerr type of point where she would share the ball handling with the other guards and forwards but would be part of the offense.
HVL purposely came to LSU knowing they needed a PG and wanted to take on that role so I dont understand why people are making HVL to be a victim, she knew what she was getting into and what the team needed when she came here
Instead we treated her like she was John Stockton bringing the ball up the court with no help and when we got into the offense she would set up on the weak side and the ball was almost never swung to her side. It was like the other women were freezing her out to a certain degree.
Of course we finish the season by telling her to guard CC almost entirely with no help (we didn't really help Last Tear either). UConn did a much better job by switching everything and using a bigger stronger player as the primary defender. Instead we had Last Tear and HVL fighting over and under screens for 40 minutes.

I thought this all year. That along with the lack of movement from her teammates when she picked up the dribble.

HVL ran point most of the year. She could pass or penetrate, drive or shoot 3. Everything in the OP she could have done.
I don’t get that rant at all.

Sorry, but she’s just too cute to ever be a world-class athlete. Gonna be on the socials, out with girls, etc. while Caitlin Clark is in the gym on Friday night draining 3s.

She was not productive at PG and was also not productive when shooting.
If she could have done the things he describes well, LSU would have been undefeated.
Article is an excuse for her play which was not great.

Remember Colorado loss/opener? Lot of fans here commented about disappointment in Haley’s conditioning and lack of quickness. Didn’t get any better.
Maybe trainer should have focused on fitness first.

Well said.
Seems like their expectation was LSU would cater to her style of play while forgetting the offensive weapons we already had. She was the #1 ranked transfer which is not synonymous with the #1 player in the country.

If she couldn’t be successful at LSU, why would she be in the WNBA?
Posted on 4/7/24 at 3:55 pm to LSUFreek
She looked out of shape to me so maybe work on that and leave Mulkey to the coaching.
