Baseball fans were already pissed off for the Tigers' offensive drought in playoffs and worried bout next year's team with so few returning position players and now this.....

The internet picture of dark, ominous clouds over The Box and the "Intimidator" says more than 1,000 words......

All of which brings up the obvious next question of WWSBHD ( What Would Skip BERTMAN Have Done ) ?

Go get some transfers, when Skip coached D1 transfers didn't have to sit out a year.

Zardon isnt a surprise...was never really impressed with him

Byrd I thought was legit going to be Opening Day 2B or at least midweek starter

On the bright side perhaps this is a sign that the incoming class will be more impressive than originally thought. Dawson, Lochridge, Wofford, and Freeman will be names we hear over the next few yrs

just out of curiosity, how'd everything work out for your kid, what were his options, and what did he chose?

Thanks for asking. Coming out of high school he passed on a couple of full ride offers (academic and baseball money) at some smaller schools and was going to play at UC San Diego when LSU called and invited him to walk on, advising they thought they would have a couple of spots open. LSU was his dream school (he had previously attended camp at LSU and had been sending video letting the coaches know he was willing to walk on) and he jumped at the opportunity. After try outs, he pitched in a number of scrimmages in the fall of 2011, giving up zero runs, but in the end was told there was no spot for him that year. The coaches suggested he attend LSU Eunice and they would keep an eye on him. Instead he attended JC in So Cal and later got picked up by Villanova.

That's him in the sig pic pitching for Villanova. He was one of their top relievers and is on scholarship.

Agree. Don't get the love for Zardon. I didn't like his approach at the plate. Had good pull power but couldn't sniff pitches on the outer half.

At some point, it's time to find out if you have what it takes. Zardon apparently wants to kick the can down the road and find out if he's good enough at some point in the future.

I'm not sure how he could have hoped for a better opportunity than he was facing with this 2016 baseball team. This isn't the move of a guy who is confident in his abilities.

Byrd I thought was legit....

Not only legit but was son of a great LSU major league pitcher who will probably now be a reluctant recruiter of talented baseball players for the LSU baseball program in the future :

Or keep 50 players on the roster and eventually one of them will work out.

Zardon was looking at a DH roll at best. He's not playing 1st with Adams coming in and 3rd base didn't work out for him this year. Byrd was Not going to beat out Dawson at SS or Deichmann/Freeman this year at 2nd base. IMO I have Lochridge starting at 3rd base this year. I hope Coach M starts Antoine Duplantis & Brennan Breaux in the OF (tons of speed) with Fraley. Doucte may be the DH he can really hit. The Jordan twins are good ball players but lack speed, especially in the OF. It's going to play out but I think this is going to be a very good team.

Absolutely agree.

If they don't want to compete and feel threatened by others then LSU isn't for them.

I wish them both the best and appreciate their time here at LSU.

Mainieri may be oversimplifying it, but that's a little dumb on Zardon's part if true. We're not even in fall yet, nobody really has a everyday spot locked up at this point.

Don't think PM is worried and knows who he is going to look at the positions of need.

College baseball has become a farm club in that there are cuts if you don't perform.

PM is such a cretin

Any coach with a modicum of class would have just given the press a standard answer of "Danny had to decide what was the best option for him at this juncture in his life and we wish him the best in all future endeavors. Danny can clear up specifics for you if he wishes"

Instead we get this blame-throwing, accountability-dodging POS doing everything he can to make himself look like a boss and shitting on another kid.

Really wish he would be removed from Baton Rouge, can't stand the guy.

Recruit Rocky Scelfo, Zeph Zinsman, Matt Heath, Jeff Lambert, Sean Barker, (the other 15 transfer catchers), and the rest of those mercenaries he brought on to close out his tenure.
