I know this stuff has been discussed over and over on this board. I know that when we question Miles we have a tendency to pull out the records and prove that in spite of how ugly the wins looked or how lucky we may have been, hey, he wins. Bottom line. And, that's hard to argue with. Nevertheless, even though Miles wins, we find ourselves scratching our heads at some things he says (like the Tiger defense this past Saturday was what he wanted to see?) and, being very thankful that we got some lucky breaks (like getting into the BCS national championship game with two losses) I've never met Coach Miles but, from what I've read he's a nice man. It's obvious he protects his coaches which isn't a bad thing. And, he seems to do a decent job recruiting. But, he consistently makes decisions that cause you to wonder. And,for the record, this isn't about Nick Saban. Yes, he's a great coach and has turned Bama around. But, Saban is gone. Isn't coming back. Miles is here and isn't going anywhere as long as he wins about 8-9 games a year. Still, I question if LSU will ever be among the elite nationally with Miles at the helm. Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are going to dominate the SEC until one of them moves on. And, for the record, Lee Corso doesn't look so crazy in his "upset" pick now, does he?

Georgia seems to stay there, and they've accomplished alot less....

I don't consider Georgia among the elite.

Most folks would kill for Georgia's success. Corso was wrong for the record. If Miles leaves for Michigan, Saban would be our coach.

yeah, you're right.. they are never nationally respected and never talked about as contenders...

Oh, and too bad their coach is never mentioned as one of the best in the best football conference, either....

Oh so this is about convincing YOU that they are elite? Fact is Georgia is an elite program and liek it or not, so is LSU.

Also the idea that Urban Meyer and Nick Saban will dominate until they retire, that is just stupid and is in no way supported by any facts.

Also Miles said "AT TIMES the Tiger defense this past Saturday was what he wanted to see" and I think he is right.

Sigh that was not exactly what Miles said. As has been posted on here numerous times he said at times he saw what he wanted to see. See the second half.

The ABove Coaches are not GODS and yes they make mistakes. I am sure that AUBURN, ARKANSAS, OLE MISS and other teams are not just going to bend over and take it from them.

LSU will be fine.

Ya know, Steve Spurrier tells it like it is every week but he still loses 4 or 5 games a year at South Carolina. I would rather Mile's record than Spurrier's mouth FWIW.

Wrong. His contract with Alabama runs through 2017. He's not leaving Alabama to come back to LSU.

And don't give me any shite about him not liking it in Tuscaloosa. If he didn't like it there, he would not have signed the recent contract extension.

ever stop to think that courso was talking more about washington than about lsu? sounds like he was much more familiar with the situation out there than 99% of the posters here. sometimes, we live in a vacuum. if so, he was right that UW is a whole lot better team than those ignorant of the facts gave them credit for. many of our fans have completely unrealistic expectations. for the other sec teams playing BCS talent schools, NONE OF THEM completely dominated and smeared their opponent. i guess uga, ole miss and bama are ending an era and on a downward spiral also; all based on one friggin game!

But if you are a smart coach and a smart speaker you never use the words "great" about your defense when it gives up 500 yards to a middle of the road Pac 10 team who went O'fer last year. Miles appears to not be the brightest bulb when he does things like this (whether he is or not). He digs most of his own holes when he says stupid stuff.

Just saying that the insider folks at LSU have maintained close relationships with Saban and he has a lot of money invested in the Baton Rouge area. I think Miles stays and wins but Saban would come back.
