What is funnier to me is watching the SECCG when CBS was also pushing the Mulligan. The stats they showed comparing Okie Lite vs Media Darling were hilarious. Spin spin spin

All of these reason are why Osu deserved a hot then another reason no one brought up. A SEC team hasn't played another SEC team in a bowl game IN 60 YEARS. but because Bama fans thought it was their year, forget that. The bowl season is for conferences to play diff conferences. You play the regular season to secure your position in the bowls. So last year we go against what has been in place for 60 years because it was supposed to be Bama's year. Had LSU lost on Nov. 5th , no way in hell LSU gets a rematch. All the ESPN talking heads would be yellIng,"LSU had their shot. It's time for OSU to get their chance."
Not to mention that the "eyeball" test was used to put Bama in the game. That is so ignorant. The eyeball test? So know the bcs participants are chosen on who you think is the better team?

Truth. What's more frustrating is this exact scenario happened in 2006 and Michigan got no mulligan despite all the pundits agreeing that OSU and Mich were clearly the best teams...based on eyeball tests. Anyone who thinks Bama deserved the rematch must also believe Florida doesn't deserve the 2006 NC.

The eyeball test is simply a euphamism for unreasoned bias. Don't confuse them with more objective considerations like SOS, conference championships, wins vs. ranked teams, etc. - because the media/voters simply "knew", without further explanation, that Bama was better than OSU.

but again why do I feel like if LSU had been in the same situation they would be left out? especially this season?

Huh?

LSU played Tennessee in the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl in 1972 and Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl in 1960. I don't know any other SEC-SEC bowl matchups off the top of my head, but I'm sure there must have been more.

Because we would be left out, because we're not a media darling. The media is not biased in favor of us like they are for other teams like Bama.

there haven't been that many and even that Bluebonnet Bowl was 40 yrs ago.

Vandy-Aub in the '55 Gator, Ole Miss and Auburn in the 1965 Liberty and Ole Miss and Auburn again in the Gator following the '70 season. I think Florida and Ole Miss may have played in the Gator in the late 50's/early 60's.

The difference is LSU had an incredible resume so I'm not sure if lsu is left out last year. But Bama's resume would not garner mulligan for anyone else.

This proves to me CFN is becoming clueless.

LSU has had the #6 ranked recruiting class in 2010 and 2011.

What declining talent is he talking about?

Perhaps, but I don't think the media would've pimped us after a loss like they did Bama last year, so who knows.

Agree totally, particularly with another strong non-mulligan candidate like OSU staring you in the face.

LSU had the best class in 2009..

Guess what?? That class is poised for a National championship.

the author is not paying attention to LSU...but that's ok, we are sort of used to it now.

Let's win the SEC again...we have major work ahead this year...

Oh, 40 years. Still 40 years of not doing something then it's ok because it was "Bama's year"

Again, I ask:

What benefit is it to CFN to say something nice about LSU?

If we had won BCS it would be a moot point. They are better until we start consistently beating them. It is not even arguable.
