What I think about when I see/read/hear shite like this- how much fun that day of tailgating is going to be, how drunk I'm going to be, how loud Death Valley is going to be, how sweet it is going to be to wipe the shite eating grin off of that entire fan base that has been there since January, and how great the victory sex with whatever I bring home that night is going to be.

It should be noted in 2009, We had the #1 class in the nation over Alabama.
Well let me buy my BCS tickets now.
Since when did the #1 recruting class for 1 year determine who's going to beat who?
You were doing fine with blasting this Roundtable of Experts until you pulled this gem out of nowhere.

Irrelevant.
How does stating this fact garner ratings?

Enlighten me.
Sure. UA had the better team in 2011 due primarily to better QB play. Yet LSU was able to secure the defacto CCG, in Tuscaloosa. TideNation doesn't see the problem with this, as does much of TigerNation. With the playoff, winning the conference will still be the normal way of selection. This, at times, may not be the case for the 4th team, but that's leaving a lot to chance.

Saban is a great coach...but being lucky is not one of his virtues. I have a feeling his Shamrock allocation has been used up. By contrast CLM has them growing out of his butt.
Success covers all sins man. Some may take longer than others but eventually, this happens.
Most importantly, Saban and Miles has LSU at a position where the club makes its own mark. Forget UA, UF, or anybody else. They are simply clubs in the way. This is their regard for us, as it ought to be.

Agreed. Yet LSU still beat them in their back yard and had to play them again. I don't understand the point you are trying to make as a counter to my original statement that LSU's new standard is beating Bama twice in a season.

Ok.

I would expect TideNation to love this. Why shouln't they? They now know all they have to do is finish third in the SEC, lose their most important game AT HOME and they will be granted a trip to the NCG. What fanbase/team/program wouldn't love this? I honestly can't think of any.

Oh just wait and see my friend. I don't want to come off like a smartass bc you seem like a nice guy, but you haven't been paying attention to who runs CFB now.

I agree with you. Please don't mistake my acknowledgemnt of LSU's place in the eyes of the media as anything but that. I wouldn't trade LSU's success the past decade with anyone, Bama included.
All I'm trying to do is get Rantards to think like a media moron. Then they won't feel inferior and start threads like this. Not to mention this thread alone probably got that stupid article hundreds of "clicks", which is what the author's want.

I hear you but my best guess on the selection committee is one that represents all interests. The majority, from what I can tell, puts an added weight to the conference champion. Now regarding how they are influenced by the media's current 'let's suck ______ pecker'...fair enough. But the media is as fickle as they come. 1/8 CLM was 'accolade, accolade'...1/10 CLM might be a top 20 coach, maybe. They are idiots, as you say.
My basic optimism is this. Of all the coaches fretful about playing the current gurus (Saban, Meyer, Petrino, Spurrier, etc), CLM isn't one of them. It's forgotten that he had some very good O's till Perrilloux hosed up and we got in a jam. I'm pretty confident Mett and Rivers along with Krag and Stud is going to solve all that.

That is what they will want fans to believe, yes.

It will depend on "who" the Conference Champion is as well. For example, the Big 12 is now fully aware, as well as the rest of the CFB world, that if OU or UT doesn't win the Big 12, their conference champion will be sweating it out. Can't have teams like Okie Lite possibly screwing things up.

Not really. There are a handfull of teams that you can target today that will get the benefit of the doubt no matter what. It is not hard to figure out who they are.

I am as well. I believe LSU can win it all this year. I really do. In threads like this, I put myself in the place of the media talking heads.

I'm truly outraged that a writer thinks that LSU has not been as successful as a team that has won two MNC's in the last four years.
That was some insightful analysis.

no, they weren't. They were the better team on 1/9, but not for all of 2011.

I like CFN and I sort of see the points made in the article but it makes a LOT more sense to me to look first to the personnel each team loses and then look to the specific personnel each team has to replace those individuals. When you undertake this seemingly more straightforward analysis, LSU looks to many to be a shade stronger going into the season. Also, it seems like a reach to rely on recruiting rankings and Bama being "better most years" while ignoring how evenly the teams have played each other or the fact that LSU has won two of the last three.

Really? In 2010, FOURTH PLACE IN THE WEST Alabama was better than 2nd place LSU who BEAT ALABAMA?
Aw shite. I just clicked on the link. You are linking fricking CFN/Scout. Might as well be Bleacher Report. I won't waste my time responding further to this moron.

This will put everything to rest come Nov 3...if we annihilate bama they wont have anything to talk about but what ifs....thing about it is whoever said this does not like facts

Just another random Sabanista hoping to get on with ESPN in some sort or fashion.
Not very well thought out. If he thinks Alabama is better, fine. But all that piece did was knock LSU with no reason one way or another.
Grade-A loser.

Doesn't really provide any facts...just rambles with opinions and therefore sounds like a fan blowing smoke out his arse. The one valid topic to look at was the NCG and that was stubborn Miles pulling a tin cup. Seriously, QB was the factor in that game. It's not like Bama crossed the 50 much. You would think that the way people talk about that game the LSU defense was awful.

Ran a clinic on how to beat LSU? Alabama scored a TD in the fourth quarter. Ridiculous.
