Going home was the rig he call but his awful slide was why he was out. Do anything but hesitate and then slide straight into the bag and he’s safe.

Yep. The awful slide is why he was out. If Morgan was even pretending to be athletic or that he had ever played baseball before in his life, he’s safe and we score.

It was truly awful baserunning.

Lester, I just watched the replay. Merrifield is sliding into 2nd before the ball even hits the ground on the short hop on the throw home.

If he didn’t go, that’s a double play with Beloso running.

If he didn’t go he is tagged out by the third baseman. He caught the ball between Morgan and the bag.

It's just bad luck.... Beloso bats left and the SS is shifted to almost over 2nd base and the 3rd baseman is basically playing on the line. How many times will Beloso slap a ball down the 3rd base line. If he hits the ball like his tendencies towards 1st and 2nd, the runner scores with no problem. Sometime you just have to have luck to win a game and Wake Forest had some luck or Nostradamus coaching. You just have to tip your cap to a good play.

You are a fool if you think turning 2 ever entered that 3rd baseman's mind.

That’s not a double play.

The most unlikely play of that inning was literally Beloso hitting the ball to the 3rd baseman. I counted like 1-2 balls hit all year by Beloso even left of 2nd base. I think that was the first ball all year he hit to a 3rd basemen.

Less than a 1% chance there, but it happened.

Catcher made a great play. With a good slide to the outside he’s probably safe.

The 3rd baseman is the only guy you hit it to that gets Morgan out. Other than pitcher. The middle was more in double play depth.

Both the catcher and 3rd baseman made an incredible play there. That window to throw was tight as frick and the catcher caught it on the bounce perfectly. They deserved to win that game after that play.

No it wasn’t but it’s already pre determined ball on ground you are going home to stay out the double play and make them make a play at the plate

Damn, did the guy running home from 3rd right in front of his face give it away

And shame on him for not doing so after looking back at the 3rd baseman having to go wide of the bag. Slide to the outside, not straight on like a fool.

How the frick is he supposed to know where the balls gonna be if it’s behind him?

If you’re gonna place blame, know what you’re talking about. The on deck hitter should have been guiding him and telling him which way to get down

ETA: I don’t think Morgan thought there was going to be a play at the plate until it was too late

Ok... Care to share with me why you disagree?

Double play? He was wide of third base line, off balance, and bobbled the ball.
Explain how he's turning any kind of double play?

Everyone is missing something very important that did not happen tonight and something that did happen that was a great hit.

The defense did not shift to short, 2B, short outfield between 2b & 1B, and 1B on the line.

Beloso pushes a nice swing and hard hit ball to a few feet off the third base line, and surprisingly the Wake F 3B was there to field it

They play like they have been shifting, or just even a slight shift, we score a run and have 1 & 3 with no outs

Great swing Beloso!

He wasn’t turning two. Should have just thrown out Beloso at 1st like a normal person.
