1. Was going on contact (post game confirmed)

2. He looked back so he could attempt to get in throwing lane (it worked. Catcher made play of game)

3. If he didn’t go, that’s a double play with Beloso running.

Pretty much all checks out

If he attempts to get back to 3rd he’s likely tagged out pretty easily

It was the best play that could have been made at the time. We just came up a bit short.

No way in hell with how 3B fielded that is he going to 2nd.

Actually, the play to home was the only out he had a chance to make with him falling that direction and double clutching.

He should have slid to the outside of home plate, but that isn’t why we lost. Walking the bases loaded bottom 7 is why we lost.

It’s a bummer that they couldn’t hit it in the outfield. It would have been a different game.

If he doesn’t run, how does he score

Everything on that play worked except for Morgan’s slide. It was horrendous.

The 3B momentum was taking him into the opposite side dugout and he was like 3 feet out of bounds when he fielded that ball. He would have been lucky to get one out.

Him going home wasn’t the problem. The little league slide was the problem. And he weirdly hesitated right before he got home. One of those slides that you see all the time where they swipe the plate with their hand gets him home safely. We weirdly slide right into the catcher.

So we have two outs and the lead?

That’s what’s sickening. That ball should have bounced away and let the runner at 2nd get to third and maybe even Beloso to 2nd still with no outs and that’s game.

Zero chance that was a double play no matter who was running.

He back hands it and plants rather than running into foul territory to create a throwing lane

This is the only part I'll disagree with. The 3rd baseman was running into foul territory and couldn't get a clean handle on the ball. Zero chance he gets Merrifield out at 2nd.
