JJ27...one of my good friend's son was senior on the team and close to Pearson. He told me about an hour ago that Jacob is getting $1.5 million.

Too bad that LSU did not try and get Trey Dawson and Brody Wofford back. Both could have helped.
Dawson is going to Kentucky. I do not know where Wofford is going.
LSU may have to look for an infielder somewhere this summer.

Cabrera still on the board. Am I right in thinking he's on board? Guessing he's falling cause he told them it's no use at this point

I am thinking Templet or Woley have to become players, at least 1 of them.

Templet at 3B, Smith at SS, Slaughter at 2B and Coomes at 1B. Not terrible if Bryce Jordan is back as the DH.

Pearson is gone.

quote:

“The details of that offer will likely come out later this week, but if the details pan out the way they said it would, I’ll be headed to Anaheim,” Pearson said.

quote:

“I see myself signing with the Angels just because of the deal we have ironed out,” Pearson said.

im 52 years old and have seen so many kids say they want to play for LSU really really bad...but so many have gone for the money. I've had ZERO optimism Either `Pearson would make it to campus. That being said..this class will still be really really good

Yep, sounds like he gave them a number and they said ok. $656,300 was the slotted value.

All in all, we have to be really happy if Cabrera and Storz make it to campus (which it looks like they will at this point), even though N. Pearson, Enlow, J. Pearson, and Bechtold likely will not. Getting 2 of that crew is still a win. That's just college baseball recruiting... You can't worry about the ones you don't get.

Agree with above, i think folks expecting to get 3 or 4 of those highly rated guys were just hoping against hope. I expected to only get 1 with an off chance of 2...happy we're likely to get Storz and Cabrera....and i hope i dont eat those words.

Cabrera is an immediate right field replacement for Deichmann and Storz can DH and play 1b with huge power potential.

I agree on Cabrera and Storz if they make it. Getting Bryce Jordan back will be a power boost as well.

I'm really really excited about the possibility of where getting Cabrera and Storz fit.

Last December Baseball America had Storz ranked as #10 overall in the high school class and Cabrera about #53 if I'm not mistaken...so these are guys are just as highly ranked as the Enlow and Pearson crowd.

What I love about potentially holding onto these two is the power they'll bring. Cabrera with be a day one starter in RF and Storz is a guy who could possibly turn into a really really great 1B if they let him play defense. Mainieri won't be able to keep him on the bench his raw power is top 5 in this high school draft class.

Smith, Slaughter, Watson, Templet, Woley, Cabrera, Storz, Doolittle, Webre. That my friends is a very solid back to back class of position players.

You add those pieces behind Bryce Jordan, Beau Jordan, Reid, Duplantis, Coomes and there's not as many holes as people think there are in the lineup.

I was just thinking to myself how LSU really only needs 2-3 of these elite recruits each year with the scholarship restrictions. Getting 2-3 each season ensures the stars get playing time and time their junior season departure well.

These past two classes plus '18 and '19...

So Storz projects as a position player, and not a pitcher? I follow the names, but don't know to much about any of these guys.

Hard to say at this point. He was a very highly ranked pitcher after his junior season. I read where he didn't pitch as well and his velocity even dropped during the past year, however (which is probably why we are even getting him to campus). So it's hard to say what his future is as a pitcher. On the other hand, he wasn't really a hitting prospect at all but in the past year or two he's won some home run derby events and had some very impressive batting sessions in front of scouts. I read where he might have the most raw power as a hitter of any prospect in this draft. I'm not sure how polished of an overall hitter he is at this point, though, or what his future is there either. Basically, he's a 6'6", 245 lb goliath. I'm sure we can develop him into a very good player at one spot or the other, and maybe even a serviceable college player at both.

Cabrera is a hard worker too. Mlb scouts wanting him to improve his opposite field hitting so he worked on it from mid year and hit 3 oppo homers

This is Storz.

If Mainieri doesn't let him hit, he might have a fan revolt on his hands.

Of course, they're not throwing him curve balls, so...

Depends on which team takes them completely different situation but I had a friend taken in the mid 30 rounds a few years back and he was given 10th rd money. All depends on what each team has to offer and then even where they are picked greatly depends on how singable they think a player is. My friend slipped cause they didn't expect him to sign but when money was what he wanted he did when the team also said would pay for him to finish his degree in college. Most probably already know this info but sure some don't
