The wine should be low alcohol, slightly frizzante (bubbles), with a sweet flavor profile reminiscent of peach, pear, and white flowers. Very easy drinking and with the low abv easy enough to finish a bottle alone.

Too sweet for both wife and I. Party foul. Only white I had n the house. J Lohr Cab just got opened

Little Costco special tonight. Haven't tried this one before.

As you might expect, it's nothing fancy with limited complexity. That being said, I like it. It beats the hell out of a cheap pinot and has a nice velvety feel.

Think I grabbed it for 11-13 so nice value.

Chappallet wine club bottle...excellent blend. ..very ready to drink now but still has a lot of meaty cab to balance the softening elements of merit and malbec.

That Barbera is a nice value...it was a house wine at several places we went to in Piedmont region.

Let's get this started again...tonight is a really nice right bank Bordeaux (90% merlot). I think we got it at Brady's (maybe Martin's) for around $20. Paired it with a cheese and meat plate and about to go grill a Hanger steak with roasted cauliflower and grilled baby bellas.

Sorry I missed it. I was planning on going but was busy. Did you try it out?

Tonight I cracked this Lavignone Barbera di Asti. It's really nice, and perfect with this big bowl of pasta I made. Plus a few homemade meat-a-ballsa!

I'm just now getting into wine, so far I've basically went off the list L.A. posted about the 15 best wines of 2014 and have enjoyed all of them. But now that I have exhausted basically all of that list (found most of them at Albertsons) what is the best way to branch out? My local beer and wine store does a wine tasting once a month, I guess I should begin attending that too

I went to the Reidel tasting seminar before the Cork Wine Festival in Shreveporta few weekends ago. Before I walked in, I figured that what glass you drink which wines out of was just a marketing ploy to spend more money on glasses. After that 1 hour seminar, I have a whole new appreciation for wine glasses. Each glass made a HUGE difference in the way each wine tasted, and there is a reaso each glass is so different. I highly recommend buying specific glasses for the varietal of wine you drink- it makes all the difference!

That's an excellent way to get started. Which city are you in?

Get to know your local wine store owner/workers and let them make suggestions for styles that you like. If you seek "expert" advice, they are usually happy to help.

Just starting out, I would suggest staying in the value section and trying out different styles/varietals.

Welcome to the WOW (world of wine).
