re: NOLA Oyster Festival this weekend - Oenophile Brah
Never been either and probably not going to make this one unless I catch Colin Lake on Saturday. The restaurant line-up looks like they had trouble getting any of the big boys. Mostly struggling actors on that list....

re: What would you do if you were me? - Oenophile Brah
Congrats to the OP! You're in a great position to direct your future. I think the most important thing at this point is to have all your investment "vehicles" in position. Fund the Roth and open a brokerage account. Once they're open, find a funding level that you're comfortable with and foll...

re: Need some investment advice - Oenophile Brah
Thanks for your service! :usa: We need a little more information. A Roth would probably be ideal, but you must have an earned income. If you're a full time student, that may be an issue. With that amount, I would consider the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index- Admiral Shares. ...

re: Galatoire's NOWFE wine dinner - pics - Oenophile Brah
This is such a ripe opportunity to dump on the New Orleans food scene, particular at Galatoire's, and especially for New Orleans Wine & Food Experience, but I won't go there.
It's late so I won't delve too deep. I've never been a Galatoire's fan and am not one today. I have stated ...

re: Galatoire's NOWFE wine dinner - pics - Oenophile Brah
they were a lot stingier with the pours this year
No doubt. I was sitting with a table full of regulars who were putting guilt trip every time the waiters came around. Luckily one of my fellow diners is a well known wine guy so we got a slightly heavier pour. Nice event though....

re: Galatoire's NOWFE wine dinner - pics - Oenophile Brah
Had a Nebbiolo at Herbsaint in December that was a fine wine.
Oh yeah! The major problem with these events is you rarely get anything with any bottle age. However, Galatoire's does so much business with Clenenden (the producer) he wanted to join the dinner and bring some older bo...

re: Patois - This Saturday - 1st Visit - Oenophile Brah
Sadly, haven't been in about a year but it's always been good. One of the more quaint NOLA restaurants. Just took a look at the menu online, and would be interested in the sweetbreads and octopus apps. Scallop dish sounds good with the Asian presentation. Enjoy and give us a review. :cheer...

re: Letterman Final Show Thread - Oenophile Brah
Not that comedians have any duty to be "balanced"
You're right about that, but you do it at the risk of alienating 1/2 the audience.
Obama for his many faults doesn't seem to really provide much in the way of comedic material. You want them to just attack for the sake of...
