Been so long since I ordered it that I can't remember if it's free refills or not

I never knew people were judging me for drinking water at a restaurant.

If you read the post originally discussing drink ordering, they never said they judge people for ordering water. They said they judge people for ordering something OTHER THAN water or wine at a high end restaurant. They're judging the soft-drink-orderers if anyone.

The depth of pomposity is amazing.

(not you, I know you are just the messenger on this one-unless you are in fact part of the pomposity. Then you too. )

I for some odd reason just don't like water. I got addicted to the carbonation in soft drinks, to be honest. And lately, I've been able to do powerade so I'm trying to go that route over soft drinks. But for some reason, I have to force myself to drink water.

I'm guessing you don't exercise very much.

Usually treated like a soft drink refill. Copelands, I think, charged me for a mixed drink, $5 or so, I had 2 or 3. When the bill came $15 higher than I expected I got pissed, but I should have asked when they put an umbrella in it.

The whole thread reveals this. I don't care what anyone orders at a restaurant, its their meal. This is often why opinions on a restaurant vary widely and why the only true way to judge is go yourself.

I have just never heard such an aversion to H2O until this thread.

got a buddy that puts ketchup on anything. Steak, potatoes of any kind, the worst was gumbo. But seen him do this to mexican and everything else. He's a cool guy and we worked at jubans together so he knows good food just loves ketchup. I still couldn't believe when he put ketchup in gumbo

This is illogical.

Just a messenger. I argued that I'm under 21, so I refuse to be stuck drinking water just because soft drinks are "too common"

Like I said before, the aversion was to anything other than water and wine. Not to water.

Hell no. I know, it's terrible. Spare me the lecture.
It's REALLLLLYYYY hard to be motivated to eat healthy all the time and exercise when you weigh 86 lbs. Being healthy is important to me, but I guess when I'm not seeing a physical difference, I'm not as motivated as I'd be if I was fat.

It just makes me feel so "common" when I drink water.... I hate what they are thinking about me at the table next to mine, and I'm just not able to sleep that night...

Well, if anything you should learn from this thread some of the people who you should not be asking for restaurant advice from.

I can pick out pretty easy the people I trust about their thoughts on places. My co-worker who informed me that copelands was one of the best restaurants in the city, even better than commanders, is not someone who I will ever trust for food advice.

I'm not sure there's a general category of food that makes me cringe, but with fine dining, anything other than wine or water to drink bothers me too.

^That was the original beverage post. No aversion to water, see?

You know, lately, the snobs around here have been saying Commander's is overrated.

I wouldn't fight someone who wants to say it is somewhat overrated, but I would eat bread off the floor at Commanders over dining at Copelands.

I don't mind Copeland's but it's definitely not something to rave about.

Yeah, I eat at the place from time to time, but it is a damn fine joke to try and say it is one of the best restuarants in the N.O. area.

You actually have to train yourself not to have too much of it - otherwise you start hurting when the entree is served!

No shite. And it is free!!! Unlike an un-named place in BR. I could seriously eat two loaves of that and a bowl of turtle soup for a meal.
