idk for some reason I DESPISE it

I was like that for years. All I would drink was Diet Coke, coffee, and alcohol on occasion. Then I started running 4 years ago, and I started drinking water. Now I have one Diet Coke a day and 4-5 bottles of water. I couldn't stand the flat, boring, blahness of water. But when my body had to have water to stay hydrated due to the running, I didn't despise it anymore.

LOL!
I am guessing this could be another thread by itself, but for the most part I would assume most of the people who do these thing that bother all of you are not all that smart? I know it fits the bill for people I know that are totally against trying new stuff and order in silly ways.

My dad is an old country jake and would always get his steaks extra well done. If he cut in it and saw even a shade of pink, it was going back. He to this day will not eat at a chinease place and I bet it is because of the old dog meat rumors from the 80's.

Before I read this thread I never knew people were judging me for drinking water at a restaurant.

I wouldn't judge someone for drinking water at a restaurant. I would judge someone who orders water with extra lemons and then leaves a 10% tip at the end of the meal.

Me too man. I love a glass of ice cold water, better than any soft drink

For whatever reason, most places in NOLA stopped automatically bringing water to the table - save for the high end spots. Pretty annoying!

Really? I can't think of a time I've ever had a meal somewhere where that has happened.

I had lunch at MiLa about 10 days ago - had to ask for it then.

A few days later, Taqueria Corona didn't bring it either.

It's not that big a deal. I haven't encountered a place that won't bring you water if you ask.

I almost find a place like Commanders Palace a bit over the top, in how they constantly have a wait person literally switching out entire water glasses throughout the meal if they get so much as 1/3 empty.

I bet you all would cast such scorn on me for ordering po-boys with just lettuce and tomatoes.

Well, at least you won't be the person at Subway holding up the line with, "Yeah, put some extra olive oil on there. Couple more bell peppers. You can gimme a few more black olives back there. Just a little more cheese than that."

You get a pass on this one. They ask you if you want it dressed because it's optional. Getting a po-boy is about the bread more than the mayo or other dressing.

Just be glad you didn't type the word sashimi when you were thinking of nigiri. It could have been brutal.

This thread has been pretty entertaining so far. The things we food snobs get caught up in is hilarious.

I've seen people order shrimp poboys with nothing but cheese.

was this just an overall feel toward all water?

I for some odd reason just don't like water. I got addicted to the carbonation in soft drinks, to be honest. And lately, I've been able to do powerade so I'm trying to go that route over soft drinks. But for some reason, I have to force myself to drink water.

I remember as a child, almost every restaurant (high end or not) had water automatically brought to the table. Over the past few years, hardly any restaurants do this.

But when I visited D.C. in December, almost every restaurant automatically had water brought out. I miss that.

what other things contributed to the thought of firing him? i cant imagine being fired for some of my food preferences.

Absenteeism...I just kept giving him one more chance, till the well done prime rib. My wife kicked me under the table when he did it, I looked at her and she rolled her eyes.

For you water and tea haters, what do you suggest in a high end place for people who can't tolerate any alcohol? My actual preference is usually club soda and lime, lots of it.
