In terms of toppings...

My buddy and I walked down to our favorite spot today for a late lunch...this place is a brewery that also happens to serve what I consider the best pizza in town. We are here probably once a week and our standard go-to is the calabrese. It's really, really solid but today we decided to go with one of the daily special pizzas.

We decided on a white pizza topped with habanero bacon, Brussels sprouts, blue cheese and red onions.

HOLY. CRAP. This pizza was perfection.

Any strange combos y'all weren't sure would work but were completely delicious?

Boheme in Houston serves up some pretty wild pizzas, all pretty much being hit or miss. We tried this one last time we were there and it was actually pretty good.

Sounds good.

One of the more interesting one's at Domenica is the Roasted Carrot pizza.

Goat cheese, red onion, brussels, beets, and hazelnuts.

delicous.

Fresh hatch green chiles and hamburger, in Santa Fe. About as adventurous as I've gotten.

But daaaayyyummm was it good!

ETA: actually, I now recall later that night was quite an "adventure".

First trip with a new GF, to Santa Fe. She was a newly minted doc (internal medicine) which made me feel slightly less embarrassed.

That would be a "Cajun Special" I made myself. Pepperoni, diced tasso, sliced Bailey's Andouille and some extra meat I had from making Natchitoches Meat Pies. Mozzerella and cheddar cheese. Oh, man!

That sounds really, really, really good.

I've always liked smoked oysters and red onion pizzas.

The carrot pizza from Domenica is perfection on a slice. I've had it twice in the last 2 weeks. Not even that bad caloric wise. All ingredients are good for you, too much bread if you eat the whole pizza though.

Gateway of India pizza....

Video Link

On side note, I've only lived in Houston for 1 1/2 years after having lived all over the country. It might be the most underrated food city in the country.
