re: Boston recs - L Boogie
I've found a couple of places that serve doubles , so I don't know if that's a Mass thing or at the discretion of the bar. Although one of the places warned me that it was really a shot and a half and not a true double. Only like 2 bucks more....

re: Why does every red beans recipe lie? - L Boogie
I made red beans tonight. The flavor is amazing but after 3+ hours of cooking (and 12 of soaking), they are still a tiny bit more toothsome than I would like. My new Instapot came in the mail today after I had already started the cooking process so I wasn't able to use it, but I am looking forward...

re: Yellow Rose in Austin - L Boogie
You could try Witchcraft. It's a pretty awesome bottle shop with two locations...there's the original on S. Lamar next to Black Sheep Lodge and a new one up in the Mueller development. No idea if they have Yellow Rose but it would be worth a shot. If they don't,you could just go to the Pint...

re: Best IPAs in America? - L Boogie
Trillium is obvious. I live in the greater Boston area now and they truly do crank out the best IPAs around, in my opinion. Everything I've had from Treehouse has been great, too. However, there is no way that Rahr & Sons should be on this list over Alesmith. I live within walking distance...

re: Texas Trip - L Boogie
I'm pretty sure you have to make reservations for Hamilton pool now, and it's already been closed a few times this season due to high levels of harmful bacteria in the water. It's gorgeous, though. ...

re: Boston - L Boogie
Austin is fine but enough has changed in the last 11 years that I've been here that I'm ready for a change. I'll miss tacos, though....

re: Boston - L Boogie
I mean, I'm mostly with you on that, but Boston has SO much history that I feel as though it would be doing oneself a disservice to not experience at least some of it. It's easy to find a balance. And thanks! I'll be right around Porter Square. I'm excited! It's pretty different from Aus...

re: Boston - L Boogie
Well, they were tourists, so... I did stuff like that my first trip, too. I don't hold that against first time visitors. I went like 7 times in the last 1.5 years and moving there in a week so now I'm more interested in carving out my favorite local spots (and have found some faves), but I un...

re: What food scene is your town missing? - L Boogie
Agreed, and the Stuffed on Brodie closed so the only option for good Louisiana-style food is the original Stuffed all the way up on 620. I don't think Evangeline or Cypress Grill are all that good. I guess one could argue that, because that location closed, there isn't much of a market for it, b...

re: Huge Apartment Fire in London - L Boogie
I'm not familiar with London, and to my knowledge, though she has done some research, neither is she. You seem to be, though, since you're obviously convinced that it's both ghetto and full of Muslims. It very well could be, but I doubt that you know that for certain. I reserve the right to be ...

re: Huge Apartment Fire in London - L Boogie
My sister is in London on her honeymoon right now. I've been in a panic for hours because I haven't been able to reach her...ordinarily I wouldn't be all that worried, but they are staying in a flat instead of a hotel, and since I don't know exactly where they are staying, radio silence freaked me ...

re: New England trip ideas - L Boogie
I LOVED Portland...I would live there. Lots to do and walkable, for the most part. We Ubered to various breweries but stayed downtown and managed to get around just fine. The people are probably the friendliest I have ever encountered, the city is beautiful and CLEAN, and the food and beer are ...

re: Beer in Austin - L Boogie
This is a fun little article about PHP and the style of beer they are calling Pinthouse IPAs. It gives good insight into Joe's personality and passion. re: Beer in Austin - L Boogie
Not in the next month or two, but Holdin's a hit so I imagine it will be back in the nearish future. In the process of installing two new fermenters so will be able to keep up with EJ production while making larger batches of the more exclusive IPAs. Every special IPA in the last 8 months or s...

re: Beer in Austin - L Boogie
EJ has been hugely successful, moreso than I think anyone anticipated...Zappy Squid was Burnet's response to Jelly and while it's good, EJ is considered the best local IPA for a reason. Same with Juice, it was an answer to Lamar's WTF is Juice? Which, in my opinion, is the best beer to ever come ...
