Yeah I noticed that. Jay should have been like, "Bitch do you know who I am?!?!"
Chargrilled oysters would have been dynamite as the second, slimy course. And fairly easy compared to doing something like a gumbo. Oh well, he's still killin' it. Grilling is right up his alley for next week so I look forward to that episode.

Didn't they specify it had to be a soup?

I think Dom asked him to do a gumbo... he should have said that it wasn't enough time, but oh well, still advanced and wasn't even in the bottom 3.
Yeah, Dom obviously doesn't understand gumbo and I wish Jay would have told him "no way" I'm trying to do that in 45 minutes.
Jay's first course and his personality kept him in the game. He's very likable and projects well on camera.

I don't recall that as a requirement, but it might have been. Did the other team make a soup course? I can't remember the courses.

Yeah, their 'slimy' course was the spinach and octopus soup.

It was definitely a requirement. There was an appetizer course (raw), then a soup (slimy), a salad (burnt), an entree (stinky) and finally a dessert (incendiary).
He definitely should have refused to do gumbo knowing that time was too limited. Maybe some kind of oyster soup could have worked.

I remember thinking that at the time, as well...maybe a quick bisque. He might have had to shuck oysters, though, and I guess that could have cost some time, as well, if he's not fast and good at it.

Does anyone know the name of Jay's (Mr. BR/Tailgater Guy) Blog? I'd like to see it.

Saw on FB that Arnold was at the watch party last night. Wonder how the "dull" comments went over last night. Wasn't he the one that says something funny about lipstick last night?

They got a good laugh about that. Arnold said that a lot of times they are just saying what the producers want, or quotes are taken entirely out of context, so there's no hard feelings.

I have heard the producers of the Food Network competition shows like to do this. Try to encourage the contestants to shite talk a little.

Of course, makes for a more interesting show than everyone just saying the other cast members did great.

Worst part of reality TV.

I feel certain they edit that way. Most "reality" shows do that. I've heard that some of them have even pieced together words from different shots. Don't know if that's fact or fiction, though.

Jay did a great presentation but the second he said he's doing a gumbo I knew it was not going to be good. 45 minutes just isn't enough time.
The first thing I thought of when they said slimy was okra, but I don't know what kind of soup he could have made with okra other than a gumbo.
Anyway, everyone misfires from time to time.
