Jay was great! He's the only person that just felt natural. Everyone else felt a little forced or seemed a little nervous.
That hashtag guy.. I just want to punch him in the face. I think they only kept him because his food was good. He needs to go

I will be surprised if he is not around for at least the final 3.
Hashtag and the other guy that didn't get eliminated are done. Only a matter of time before they are gone.
I was surprised one of them wasn't eliminated although the one that was eliminated was meh.

I honestly believe hashtag guy is just there to expose more people to his hashtag idea and actually gives no shits about winning the competition.

Interesting. You could be right.
I wonder how some of these people make it to the final 12. I can see hashtag guy because he's young and a complete arse so he creates TV drama.
But Dom, the NY Italian guy, is a total dud. He's not interesting at all and even if he can cook he's never going to be good on camera. There are zillions of people who can cook.

What does someone win? Does food network even air cooking shows anymore or is it all just hidden camera, cupcake sting competitions?
I watch Food Network much less these days. I tape Chopped because I still enjoy it. I can't think of what else I watch anymore except there's the one show with the competition of home chefs. Is that on this network? I can't think of the name of it. Maybe it's the one where the bad home cooks compete. That one makes me laugh, so I tape it and sort of watch it while I'm cooking. I'm only watching this show because Jay is on it.
Didn't that sandwich king guy get his show from this competition? I didn't watch but one season, I think, and then, I blew it off. Some of the winners still have shows and got a career from this show, but I don't know who they all are.

Yeah, other than Guy, there are a few others who still are on the air.

If it's a competition and there is savory cooking involved, I will watch it ;(can't stand watching baking).
Don't care what network it's on and don't care what anyone thinks about it either.

I'm the opposite. I love the daytime shows that show you how to cook and I love the shows where they travel and eat but I cannot stand any of the competition shows

I can watch any sport or competition.
Those shows combine sports with food. Doesn't get much better to me.

I don't watch any of the baking competitions either. I'm not a dessert maker and not interested in becoming one and they don't appeal to me at all.
I probably see some daytimes shows from time to time that I'm not thinking of, but I find myself on the cooking channel more often than Food Network. I don't watch much daytime, overall, though. Distracts me from work.

Too exact for me.
That's actually probably why I like the competition shows. I couldn't watch a show that shows me how to cook. I'd either get bored or I'd get obsessed with writing everything down to try and get it exactly right.
The competition shows allow me to pick up some tidbits as I watch to see who will win.

Oddly enough, I don't really make many of the things I see on how-to shows. I just enjoy watching someone cook.
Same reason I love DDD, No Reservations, Food Paradise, etc. Once they get into the kitchen and I get to watch them cook, I"m happy :)
Basically I only care about the food porn aspect, so that's why I avoid the competition shows. Plus, the sob stories on ones like Chopped make me want to bash my head into the wall I love PBS with all of the local cooking shows and other things like America's Test Kitchen.

I like the PBS shows, also.

She has a wonderful camera presence and I think she fills that gap left by Paula Dean. I like Jeff Morrow also but his show has given way to his presence on The Kitchen. Some of the runners-up and also-rans wind up with shows on Cooking Channel (Kelsie Nixon for example).
I thought Jay did very well and his choice of dishes was spot on. Good luck to him.

January Jones' illegitimate kid totally looks like Bobby.

I thought the portrayal of Jay was strange. I didn't think he sounded unnatural or contrived even though they repeated what he said over and over. Was he supposed to tell a different story each time? I didn't think he was the best this show, though he came off damn well to me. Matthew was a slug. I'd be so embarrassed if I'd been shown in that light.
