if Matthew wasn't such a mega douche I feel like he would have had a great chance. Very outgoing and you can defintitely tell he's a great chef

Dom has to have been a plant by FN and had to have intentionally messed up on those early episodes. There is no way this guy suddenly gets over his stage fright and begins to hit home runs in front of the camera. There was always something odd about the way the hosts favored and continued to save him throughout the season.

I don't understand why they have done nothing but cooking challenges throughout the show crafting a pov, then for the pilot they film diners drive ins and dives knock offs. Why not film an actual cooking show rather than a travel show?

with the raging boner they have for Dom, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they picked him

I was saying the same thing earlier with those I was watching the show with. I found it pretty ridiculous that they only did cooking challenges and then the pilot, which determines the winner, is a try someone else's restaurant and desrcibe Oh well. I guess they want to see how well these guys can talk at this point.
Prediction: The Food Network selects Jay. He is the obvious choice. A already huge fanbase, winner of national awards, and excellent in front of the camera.
Cheers to Bite and Booze, and best of luck, Jay!

his food must be incredible

I'm so confused by this entire deal. They talk about POV and the. Send them out to do DDD shows. I'm not interested in that. I wanted to know more about Jay's food. Fish looked so crispy, but I have no idea what he did to make it. FN is going to screw up if the new star is doing another travel show. Aren't the Paula Dean brothers already doing another one of those? I saw them in Louisiana at Best Stop on a show a week or so ago. I'm disappointed in all the pilots.
As usual, Jay's presentations were really good. However, I will never understand the concept of piling étouffée atop fried fish or steak or any other protein. Yuck.

I was surprised by this as well. How can they pick Dom to host a show where he isn't even going to cook? Isn't that the only thing that kept him in the running?

I'm sure Dom is probably a great guy and all of that, but this is horseshite. So you just take a dump on camera for 10 weeks straight, get the boot, and now thrown right back into the mix for the finale when they have the luxury of editing, productions tricks, coaching, etc.? I'm gonna be pissed if he wins.
And also a good call by Eddie to ditch his original POV (which was utter nonsense) and move onto something some segment of the viewing population would actually want to watch. That was a smart move on his part.
Also, after being so solid all season long, has Jay already secured his spot in some form or fashion on Food Network? They can't possibly just let him walk out of the door now, right? He's basically proven that he's more than cut out for this.

Almost certainly.
And apparently the FN really wants to add another travel show to their lineup, so I guess that's why they decided to do pilots in that route. I wouldn't be surprised to see the runner up get their own show doing something in the kitchen.

I think they do those pilots the same every year. I'm assuiming they're wanting to see them in a little different setting since they will do more than just a cooking show should they become a regular on FN.

I have to agree with this. Either Dom is the luckiest son of a gun alive or they had plans for him with booting him and the Star Salvation.
Through the whole thing I was wondering how Dom was good on camera when talking about the show or doing commentary, but he was so bad talking about the thing he loves, his food. That really raises a red flag in my brain now that he's suddenly flipped a switch and doing well on camera as well.

I feel like he has done ok for the most part when it came to his dishes, but really struggled getting to that point and the background stuff. Either way, certainly has baffled me he's made the top 3. Seems like Arnold just couldn't get it together in the end, though. Don't blame them on that decision.

This whole season has been absolutely ridiculous.
They spend this whole time talking about POV and food. Then they shoot DDD style pilots where Eddie talks about BBQ and being from Texas. Where in the flying frick did that come from?
Its clear that they have already decided on Dom and I honestly dont see that changing. Jay you killed it dude and you were clearly the best throughout the competition. I hope you take it home Jay, but I would be extremely surprised if anybody else but Dom wins it.

I thought Giada was going to explode when Dom came back on stage.

I don't know what the deal is with Giada and I imagine you guys will differ with me, but I'll be glad when this show is over and I don't have to keep seeing her boobs once a week. Geez...
I hope the show does this DDD thing every season even though it's not the show the winner will be doing because I don't know that I would even watch Jay traveling around to restaurants DDD style. Why even bother doing a "pilot" like this if that's not the type of show the winner will be doing? It got so boring at that point that I wanted to ff through. I didn't watch the Star Salvation show that came on before it.

I think it was like two weeks ago, there was an episode where they were so distracting even I couldn't help but keep noticing them.
