Jay made it passed two of the tougher challenges yet. And whoever said his cooking faltered "again", that is just stupid. He was forced to make an after school snack and a dessert, both of which is not something that fits his POV.
I said again because by his own admission he screwed up his coconut chocolate thing too, .
If anyone else had made his pitiful snack dish, you would have been all over it. He screwed up with the food. There is no shame in it and it didn't hurt him. You are an over the top apologist for him. He can admit when he messes up yet you can't.

That's one of the things I don't really like about the show. They've all had to make things that they'd never do on their own show.
I am ok with it if the mentors force them to put their POV on it somehow. But they randomly decide when to bring it up.
Alex with the ramen and stew. Eddie has nothing even close to a POV. Arnolds is extremely broad so he can kinda get away with it.

This was just plain silly.

I see this as his main problem.

Cable or all of TV.
I want to do this so badly. But football season is upon us.
Cable. I have a Chromecast, so I can play anything that plays in Chrome on my computer onto my TV. Plus, I have passwords for anything on ESPN360, so I don't miss too much in the ways of sports.
Jones has more channels than I could even dream of, so I'm not totally without TV. Just have been this summer while he has been gone and I've been staying at my own apartment. All will change in December when we're under one roof.

True

I'm not exactly sure what the Food Network's expectation of an "After School Snack" are

a stupid theme.
Agree. My after school snack was cookies from a package or something like that. We weren't allowed to eat full out meals when Mom was cooking. My family was 5pm dinner eaters.

I think Eddie should just go the health food route, things that are good for you and taste good. As far as I know Food Network doesn't have anything like that. I don't watch a lot of Food Network though so I could be wrong.

I never said anything about the snack dish. He kept it way too simple but he got the hardest one out of the others. No win situation right there.

No I am just more critical of the others because he is clearly more equipped to be the Next Food Network, right now, than any of the others.

I'm the same. To steal from Kathleen Madigan: I have so many channels that it takes me all night to find out nothing is on.

Nothing screams family reunion sandwich POV quite like bacon ramen.

He should just change his POV to "traveling Asia" and just drop the sandwich bullshite.

The whole point of an after school snack is not to cook it. It's something simple to tide the kids over until dinner so they don't get hangry. My kids get crackers and cheese or something similar. Ain't nobody got time to cook a snack.
I guess they were looking for some Pinterest type homemade granola bars or something.

I think anything besides something a 4th grader could make.
I like Jay. I want him to win. I think he can win. I think his presentations are compelling and fun. I think his show would be the best of all the ones in this competition.
Sure it was a tough one, but defending pigs in a blanket in any way is funny.

I thought he under performed on the after school snack, but I couldn't come up with something better in that time crunch. Making his own dough and cooking was virtually out of the question.
If he is supposed to be tying in his "brand" he is left with even fewer options.
Maybe if he used andouille he would have done better. Not sure of their ingredient availability though.

I love Jay and defintely think it comes down to him and Eddie. But when it comes down to it, Eddie is the winner in my book. The guy just has charisma
I feel like the question is who has been stronger week in and week out. Whether the judges approach it that way I have no idea (and maybe they won't - they have this huge love affair with Dom and it took the network execs to get him kicked out).
Both Eddie and Jay are good, but Eddie has been in the bottom several times and had some big screw-ups (worse than the after-school snacks) and Jay has yet to be in the bottom.

FYI, Phish Food by Ben and Jerry's is a stupid good and rich ice cream

True. I think Eddie has had some shining moments and he's very likable. I'm still not certain of his POV. I don't know if I'm exactly certain of Jay's other than Louisiana based. I don't think it's just grilling and I don't think it's just game or Louisiana seafood. I think someone thought it was tailgating food, initially, but I don't think that's his primary focus.

I personally think bite and booze would be solid for the network
Posted on 8/3/15 at 5:31 pm to Brageous
Jay already has a brand which I would think would be helpful to the Network. Maybe that would be the name of his show?
Posted on 8/3/15 at 5:43 pm to Gris Gris
If the numbers are right, I'm sure he'd do it. He's worked on that brand for years so it has to be a right contract IMO. Because no matter what happens, I think he will get some offers.

I'm so mad! When I noticed that the show hadn't recorded, I set it again for the 11:00 showing. It didn't record that one, either. Cox Contour sucks.
